Thanx man

unless it takes a hard right its going to end up in the gulf

so Mike AI and Sharkey could see this thing on their doorstep

or it could go further west then NO could see it

Water is warm in the gulf so it could get much stronger

I hate to wish this on anyone else, but I hope Dennis stays away from Tampa and New Orleans.

So I am pulling for Alabama!

Right now it looks like it's coming right up the west coast. I'm in Naples, right over the bridge from Marco Island, so we'll be getting pretty strong rain and wind unless it just moves a little to the west.

its shifting more and more east. this morning it was headed right for NO, now it looks like tampa.

Jamaica is getting pounded

Where is Tom Cruise when you need him? Surely he could solve this problem.

Seriously, best of luck for those in the path, I hope it blows over as quickly and with as little damage as possible.

Last year taught me that being without utilities sucks even more then a tree through one's roof.

This year I have a 7500 KW generator that patches into my house's power grid through a panel in my garage. 30 gallons of fuel storage (about 6 days of 24/7 power). A one room portable A/C that is on wheels. Comcast cable for my main internet connection. Earthlink ADSL for backup internet. DirecTV for my main source of TV and Comcast cable for a backup.

I've also had all my remaining trees trimmed and upped my insurance to replacement cost since I've put a new roof on my house and remodeled the whole inside of my house.

I also have storm shutters for all openings to my house.

I figure I should be good to watch TV or listen to music, one room of A/C, and surf the internet in the middle of even a category 5 hurricane while all my neighbors sit in the dark bored and sweating in the heat pissed off about the noise from my generator.

I think this is about the best storm map since it shows wind speeds.

Cleo...you are my hero! :rokk:
I've been "thinking about" getting the "earthquake survival kit" that is recommended for Southern California for 17 years. Someday....

Red...I'm hoping Dennis moves west. Far west.

So that would be a giant bowl of jelly that you sit on in the event of an earthquake as you sit there and jiggle as the ground beneath you wiggles?

Why do all the people I like live where Mother Nature plays bad games :(

Move to the North East of England, no summer - but no worries either :)

Trev...in all seriousness, I put Red through moderate heck in ICQ. The poor woman was reduced to sending me the URL to a weather map and saying "The hurricane is *here* and I live *here.*" She's going to get some serious weather, but unless Dennnis shifts, she won't get the full force.

I'm being funny as a survival tool..that "unless Dennis shifts" was scary.

(Red, don't read this!)

And Trev? I have always wanted a proper British tea. I've read James Herriot's books so many times I can quote them. :D
And after tea... :yowsa:
