What have you all heard about the new Wynn in Vegas.

Nice, not nice - restaurants, help, gameplay? Is it hard to get a room, easy to get a room? How much do they charge for a room, etc..I am looking for in depth descriptions based on your own personal stay/visit or close friends. Thanks.

Are you referring to the one next to the Sands Expo?

We are going to Vegas in three weeks..... one of our stops is going to be the Wynn... not staying there, as I like the Old Vegas better, but want to drop in and see what Wynn is all about....

Not hitting the casinos right outside your door everyday would make you a good Las Vegan, at least I would have thought so :)

All I know is that they have Daniel Ne graneau as a spokesman for their poker room and he plays everything from $4/$8 Hold Em to high stakes gamnes of al stripes. So, that would be incentive enough for me to go there and try it out and hope I could be there on a day when he's playing a game limit I could afford.

He also is willing to play ANYONE heads up for anywhere from $100,000 to $500,000 in any one of the following nine games.

Hold’em
Omaha eight-or-better
Stud eight-or-better
Stud
Ace-to-Five triple draw
Deuce-to-seven triple draw
Pot-limit Omaha
Pot-limit hold’em
No-limit hold’em

I have only a few stipulations:
1. If I lose a match in stud to Phil Ivey, for example, I’m not obligated to accept additional challenges from Phil in stud. He can choose to play another game, though.
2. I’m not obligated to play for more than 12 hours during any session. If the match isn’t over in that time frame, we simply continue it at a later date that works for both of us.
3. All of the matches will take place at Wynn Las Vegas.

Plan to check it out in person next trip out, though likely will do a walk thru while staying someplace else before actually booking in down there.

I love Wynn properties....I hate some of the things MGM has done to them, but Mirage and Bellagio are still two of my very favorites. So I have high expectations.

What I've heard so far...

1) Drawing huge crowds, so expect lines and high stakes at the tables.

2) See number 1, rooms aren't cheap either. But they are better furnished and more high tech than anything else on the strip.

3) the entire casino is high tech, the chips can be tracked around the property...

4) I have heard unkind things about some of their table rules. Continuous shuffle at some blackjack tables and only paying 6:5 on a blackjack.

I have not heard reviews of any of the restaurants. Would love to hear some.

Anybody who would play at a blackjack table that only pays 6:5 on a blackjack is a total and complete moron.

yeah, very true, but i was curious about it based on the fact that I am interested in the stock, so if they can get away with paying 6:5, think about how much extra $ that puts in their pocket :)

Yeah, the question is can they get enough tourist traffic in there that'll play anyway. If so, that's a signficiant addition to the house edge and it is perhaps more subtle than hitting on soft 17.

I have heard of other strip casinos testing the same thing.

I personally think it would be a mistake for Vegas to start cutting into the edge too much. Their profits are solid off the games as is predominantly because the women shovel money into slots while boyfriends and husbands play the tables. But I think one reason people continue to trek to Vegas for their gaming fix as opposed to hitting Native American Casinos and others that are closer by are the looser rules.

Strip rules have typically been 3:2 on blackjack, dealer does not hit soft 17, you can double down on any first two card total and surrender is offered. You rarely get all of those at a smaller casino outside of Vegas.

Yeah, when you going?

I'm up for it if someone can promise me the hotel isn't packed out with a family reunion and all of the elevators work.
