Was the rest of the World invited to play in this contest?

If not then I can't see how they're the World champions. US champions yes, World champions no :P

Congratulations to them though :)

It was a great series, with two top teams playing their hearts out. The Spurs flat out-played the Pistons in the final game, and deserved that win....

My Pistons will be back next year! ;-)

The Europeans and Candians get very touchy with these things....

Damn American Imperilists!!

The ironic part is the Spurs are a true International team. 3 starters are not from the US, including Duncan.

I am happy Duncan stepped up, he is a great guy and a wonderful competator.

I dont really follow ball (anything without skates and sticks seems pointless to me) but who's the third? I know Ginobli and Parker...

I agree with both of you gentlemen...

One thing to keep in mind is that American professional sports recruit more foreign
athletes then any other country. These foreign athletes are the best at the game and we, as American, are proud to have them on our teams and we welcome them with open arms.

One other thing in reference to Tim Ducan as well as the Admiral, who retired this past year from the Spurs. these two gentlemen are a class act. They give so much, not only to the game but the their communities.

I'm damn proud to be an American. :salute:

My wife always kicks my ass when I go on soccer rants. She had scholarship offers before she blew out her knee. I love all real sports. I still do not think racing lawnmowers, or darts are sports however. :o

Ditto...

lets not forget hockey...back in 1999 the Dallas Stars, formerly the Minnesota Stars
won the Stanley Cup. Allot of there players were Canadians and from other countries.

Talk about embarassing...
I'll bet Lord Stanley was turning in his grave when the cup ended up that far south.

I guess I shopuld remind all of you, that ARGENTINA won the gold medal in the olympics, Not the USA.

I am a big NBA fan but I have to agree if they want to call it world champs, they should allow other countries ( besides Canada) to have franchises that compete in the NBA as well.

Same of course applies to Football, and Baseball.

Joe, the US lost because it fields an all star team of cry babies, all who want to be the star. They also don't have much time to practice together and other world teams.

No other team in the world could beat the Spurs or the Pistons in a 7 game series. Heck I think the same would apply to the top 5-10 NBA teams.
