Lets see. Visa International quotes compromised account fines to start at $5000 per occurrance for merchants. Those merchants are supposedly unsafe and are required to run compliance checks.

So, lets see, 22 million accounts at $5000/ (ignoring for a moment the fact that after 50 fraudulent accounts Visa does step up the fines), we run into a pretty large number. I believe $110 billion in fines.

Visa has levied a $50k/day fine.

Yeah, they know where the real security problems are.
