Yep - 2000. I know NOLA's been mentioned several times as somewhere they would try to have it again so it certainly isn't out of the realm of possibility :)

I seriously recall a bunch of folks from Florida saying it was god-awful in NO, humidity-wise comparison.

And the charity dinner in the historical building that couldn't therefore do air conditioning. I remember I was impressed when I looked down and they had brought out a finger bowl. Then the waiter informed me that those were just empty plates we were all filling up with sweat.

Yes Nawlins is a great city and great for conventioins, but like Miami/Hollywood, why must it always be at the hottest point of summer and the start of hurricane season, constantly???

I was sick at the NOLA show and ended up spending most of the time in my room - alone :( So I would LOVE to go again :)

(now that I think about it, I bought a plane ticket to go to one of Michael's cookouts and had to cancel. Maybe NOLA's bad luck for me! :( )

Their overheads are becoming increasingly more expensive as time goes on .. someone has to pay it .. the question is for how long, will these shows be viable, if people start keeping away in droves?

NO sucks ass.......

ONLY good thing about it is the food, if it ever actually makes it to your table.

3 hours from placing order with waiter untill the food hits the table, Casino feels like you need to delouse after walking through it, and the quarter smells like a combination of vomit, stale beer, and piss.

Might be a fun time for those that feel getting drunk and throwing up at breakfast are acceptable pass times, but if I never set foot in NO again it will be too soon.

(Although the trips there did produce some very entertaining moments)

The advantage of a show is you can get a lot of people you do business with in the same place at the same time for some face time.

There is some value to face time. A business relationship goes to another level if you've actually sat down with someone face to face regardless of how much time you've spent with them on the phone, in email and in ICQ.

New Orleans in place of the summer show would likely lure me out at least once. Both are hot and humid as hell, but Nawlins has a bit more personality.

Now if they move the January show out of Vegas, I'm not going on general principle. You'll likely still find me in Vegas sometime in January out of habit.

You and I must not go to the same New Orleans, Please let me show you NO

First stay clear of Harrah's and the Riverboat gambling, both are for suckers

Some of the best cuisine anywhere in the world is done in New Orleans. There are at least 5 restaurants that rate 3+ stars in my book (and I love to dine out). Also a few very good hole in the wall places. Good rule to thumb, don't dine any place on a corner around Jackson Square. They are for tourists and the food is not up to par. If you accept waiting 3 hours for food shame on you

Excellent shopping

Choose the right places to drink and you'll have an incredible time

If you want to do Bourbon Street with tourists and some whacked out locals on the weekend you get what you deserve

This is before we even get to the amazing architecture and very interesting local history

Oh did I forget the abundance of quality live entertainment

and a few nice high end strip clubs

Fuck it, if you don't like it stay away

Where to dine - and there are other great places too
(I've had great meals at all below and I believe Mike, Billy, Grimm and Serge can vouch for these places)

Brennan's
Arnaud's
Commander's Palace
Galatoire's
Bayona
Irene's

Hole in the wall places
Coop's
Angeli's on Decatur

Vick

It's been a while since I've been in the strip clubs

Rick's
Temptation
Hustler Club

Are 3 high end places, I forget the rules for each though

If possible and they are available I suggest going with Mike, Grimm and Billy :yowsa:

Vick
06-13-2005, 04:59 AM
Where shopping stay out of the junk places on Decatur unless you want typical tourist stuff (alligator heads, T-shirts and so on)

If you want great Goth, Punk and Freak clothes go to Gargoyle's Leather on Decatur or the Dark Entry on Bourbon

Good shopping can be had strolling Royal, lots of different interesting shops

Vick
06-13-2005, 05:02 AM
If you want a quiet drink without college kids and drunk fools go to Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop on the far end of Bourbon (toward Esplanade)

It might be the oldest bar in the US and is never closed unless there is a hurricane
There will be a piano player working there most nights and he'll play about anything you ask if you leave a tip in his jar (I've had him play Sinatra and "As time goes by" on more than one occassion)

As I said Vick

Food was fantastic (although it was Brennans we waited for 3 hours with a waiter that thought he was doing us a favor)

There is absolutely some beautiful architecture.

Strip clubs are of no interest to me and I do not drink.

Where to dine - and there are other great places too
(I've had great meals at all below and I believe Mike, Billy, Grimm and Serge can vouch for these places)

Brennan's
Arnaud's
Commander's Palace
Galatoire's
Bayona
Irene's

Hole in the wall places
Coop's
Angeli's on Decatur
As I said Vick

Food was fantastic (although it was Brennans we waited for 3 hours with a waiter that thought he was doing us a favor)

There is absolutely some beautiful architecture.

Strip clubs are of no interest to me and I do not drink. [/b][/quote]
You should have set his leg on fire and pissed on it to put it out B)
and told him there was his favor

The times I've dinned at Brennan's weren't anything like that

Edited to add - Sorry to hear that happened
I'm a flaming butthead and would have been constantly complaining after a 45 minute wait

I have to agree with Peaches. Vick makes NO much more appealing!

(Now if we can just get some "outside" air conditioners installed. Or have a convention there during the winter!)

We tore up the town back in 2000 for cybernet expo.

Moose tells me he went back a few years after to the main strip club (Gold Club) we spent our time in and they greeted him by first name.

Stan from Ohio.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

It's been a while since I've been in the strip clubs

Rick's
Temptation
Hustler Club

Are 3 high end places, I forget the rules for each though

If possible and they are available I suggest going with Mike, Grimm and Billy :yowsa:
I have been to Ricks and the Hustler Club and they rock!! I am also on the billboard for the Barely Legal Club down there. I have never seen it so I hope the show is there for 2006.
