I watched Closer this afternoon - I liked it but didn't love it. I'll give it an 80-85 :)

Peaches, I enjoyed it more because watching Doctor work the Writer was a masterpiece, and I always enjoy watching mind fuckers do their best
;)

I used to do what he did, but his results were more consistant than mine...
;)

Ah yes, that was great! I think Dr. would have been a lot nicer to writer if not for the chatroom stuff :P

I don't think chat room stuff had more relevance than the writer stealing his wife...

If somebody has done it to me, I'd have them confess the tax evasions over the last 50 years
;)

"Eulogy" was excellent
in fact just sent it back to NetFlix today

I didn't care for "Closer", and it's weird because I usually like most anything Jude Law does...maybe it was just too voerhyped by the time I saw it

I'll have to add "Distant" to the NetFlix que if they have it

an amazing movie I caught the other night was "Osama"...some of the most powerful filmmaking I've seen in a long time

They have it - just added it, Eulogy and Osama :)

Also finally watched Sideways. I love Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church looks and acts like a guy I dated for years. :P

Sykk, do it only if you like Tarkovsky, as the movie is a tribute to his movie directing style.

You'll love them both, I'm sure....

Sideways was a damn good movie. I didn't seem to enjoy it as much the second time through, but still a great movie and Paul Giamatti can do no wrong in my book....

The only Tarkovsky I've seen that I'm aware of is The Sacrifice...I'll still check out the movie and maybe it'll point me in some new directions filmmaker-wise...

his first movie was Solaris with Bonionis,
but the one which made a HUGE splash in USSR was..Mirror.

I still wonder about how he did it and what he was hinting in those censorship days...

I would call him Impressionist of the Movie Janre...
