file sizes in a TGPgallery

I was suprised to find so many full sized pics from TGP's with files sizes at 20-30k...

I was going to set the min at 75K on pics and 750K for movies but I am wondering if that is a bit too high to have fresh content flowing. Any suggestions?? I am starting to think I should half those sizes.

What is good and not good when setting up a TGP site.

20 - 30k is fine unless the tgp says it has to be higher. You need to remember that some tgp's can throw a whole heap of traffic at you all at once... if you're serving 75k pics then you're going to get spanked on bandwidth and page load time.


I don't know about movies though as I'd rather chew my arms off before giving away free clips <_<

Maybe I am under the wrong impression but I was thinking that (with the exception if my own galleries) the band useage would be on the submitter...

Are you telling me that I should host the galleries <_< ?? maybe allowing me to have control of the traffic???

When I do galleries, I optimize to get the best quality I can at the smallest file size I can. So I set up for 500 pixels on the long side and try to get my file size as small as possible (usually in the 18-25k range).

If you are going to be getting any kind of traffic to your submitters then you want them to be able to optimize as much as possible and should judge whether to accept or not on the quality of the pic not on the size of the file (imho of course). Some people will get a 100k file size with a pic that looks like shit, other folks, who know what they are doing will get a good quality pic and get it down to 20k....

Thanks... I think I will set minimum size at 20k then for pics and ??? for movies... I guess I will have to review them to keep quality up. I was thinking by keeping the file size up a bit I would get better content and let it run on auto pilot for the most part.

I was planning to optimize to small as possible file sizes for galleries that I put in there and all movie clips are gonna be from FHG's, I'm not giving up that much bandwidth in a TGP.

I gotta find or make a couple of funny looking fucking gorillas for the upcoming TGP site "theporngorilla"

Heck... from what is being said on the main board, I don't know if it's worth the effort to put up a TGP site or not :unsure:

I suppose that maybe it could be good for sending some exit traffic from a main stream adult site with SE traffic... if they don't buy something there then maybe I can give away a free membership at the TGP site... shit, now I am getting more confused than I already was on what I should be putting together. Maybe I will cater the advertising for the TGP towards webmaster referrals or something

I would build it :)

Traffic is king and tgp's do get traffic, it might be poor traffic but it is traffic that can be sold, traded or worked.

Don't make it your only project though, work on the SE's as that traffic is gold.
