a friend of mine who is muslim gave me a copy of the koran,
I did not want to hurt his feelings, so I accepted the book.

I've tried to give it to some one who practices the religion, apparently
no body wants it.

I don't practice the religion...anybody need a copy? :P

The bible has some of the most nasty and kinky sex along with some of the most brutal acts of barbarism you could imagine.

Not sure if the koran does or not.

Also been watched and enjoyed (I do movies on religion)

Now stigmata is something I really can't get my head around... but then there are doctors and surgeons in South America that can't either...

Its interesting to study religions and see how and why things mean what they do to their followers . How cults made up of the worship of pagan gods and twisted truths became these huge religious bodies that encroach into every corner of peoples lives.

Anyone can start a religion..although they are referred to as '"cults" nowadays. We could start our own religion right here and now if we wanted to and have all sorts of nonsensical tenets. In a few hundred years we could have a whole money making entity with hundreds of thousands of believers.

has anyone eread even a part of the Koran? just curious.

its pretty much the same as the bible as far as teachings. both, imho are nice works of fiction, worthy of a spot on the shelf next to my dickens collection.. when interpreted as a text, the lessons taught do no harm, give people hope, a guideline for a life for those who need it, so i cannot say either one is worth NOT perusing.

If you were held hostage by Zarqawi, do you think your captors would provide you with a bible and handle it with great respect?

Or would they chop your head off, live on al-Jazeera, if you politely requested one?

I agree, except that the Koran specifically addresses 'a woman's' place, and I believe, that in today's society, to support such things is harmful and goes against the rights that women have fought so hard to attain in the western world.
