But from my point of view I see no point in sending a contigent from my corps to a show.
I'm driving accross Canada in the summer and am meeting with loads od Opranauts in various cities.
I think the market needs to change from throngs of people going to huge shows to simple business trips.
JMHO
Admit it most of you go to the shows to party and hopefully get laid....
ahahahaha
not that there is anything wrong with that...

I'm a road warrior myself... :matey:
I prefer to travel, meet with people and conduct business. Market
and promote my goods one on one.
Shows/conventions are good to see and meet with people, you have'nt seen
in some time. B)
In my past experiences as a road warrior, I had no problem getting laid. :P

Very little business gets done at shows.... thats a truth. I get to see the people I do business with regularly, and help solidify that relationship...
I go because its a way for me to write-off a vacation :)

They can be good if you have something to sell that appeals to alot of people. Or if you are shopping for something...
I would think neither apply much to you...
...but of course, it makes sense to discredit things you dont personally believe in...

Only because I haven't been at a show with ya Peaches!! If that happens we'll make rabbitts look like they are lazy!! :)
You can get things done at shows, you just have to pick and choose your scheduling really well.
The last few shows I've stacked up my first day or so with meetings from early (ok, 9 am is early for me) to dinner meetings, without much of a break in between. Then I'll try to get one or two things for day two, but after that you pretty much lose 90% of the people since the sober ones go home and the partyers won't get up until the vampires do.

Shows can be effective if you do what your talking about.
Start ahead and line up people to meet with since they will be all in one place anyhow. If you plan you can be quite effective.

I agree, I think personal road trips are more productive, and specifically targeted.
I do however think that shows are a good way to see the new crowd, but going to every show is silly, I think one or two, max of three a year is sufficient. and Like KK said, do your business then leave..
I have decided I will not ever waste money on a party at a show again, the reality is, it is mostly for people to get drunk and stupid anyway, and they never seem happy no matter what, so what is the point, I would rather spend that money on traffic, or advertising or content .

I can honestly say I've gotten business out of each and every show I've been to. The smaller shows are the best for face to face contact, but the larger shows are, of course, larger and you give you MORE faces to trade cards with. :awinky:

I've done the most business at the CYbernet show in San Diego last year and this past Phoenix forum than any others. That's why we're skipping Florida...we're just seeing a better ROI on the smaller shows and it's easier to pre-schedule face to face meetings at the smaller shows.
if I get laid, it's a bonus...
