For every minute of video in hi and low resolution seperately.... How many megs should the file be ? In .wmv format of course...

Just as a general rule of thumb for videos I've worked with, for 1 minute at 320x240 aspect ratio for broadband, 2.5 MB.

I'm far from being a video ex[ert, but that's what my videos come to.

It all depends on what image size and what frequency you are using for the high and low resolutions.
I have high resolution videos of 700K wmv files at 720x480 that are about 5 Megs per minute, high resolution files of 500K wmv at 320x240 that are about 4 Megs per minute, medium resolution files of 400K wmv at 320x240 that are about 3 Megs a minute, and low resolution files of 250K wmv at 320x240 that are about 1.75Megs per minute.
As you can see, it varies a bit. I think it also depends on what program you are using as your editor (but I am not certain of that). These examples were all done using Vegas Video, though some were version 4 and others were version 5 of the program.

Just what i needed, TYVM ....

Thought these file sizes were too large... And especially for the given quality

With the video that I edit, quality is more important than file sizes, so I never really had to worry too much about making a file too large. A 100K wmv at 320x240 could be as small as 600K per minute, but your viewers are going to have a hell of a time properly viewing it. Your site stamp will get pixelated, too, so you really can't use it for promotions. Just something to keep in mind.

Just using text for the watermark, however a 2 minute video... grainy and poor quality... 16 megs. I sure as hell didn't think that sounded right, but what do I know? LOL

Hopefully the new batch being edited comes out much cleaner ...

Oh, ouch! I checked through my archives and I found a wmv I made that is 2:17, encoded at 512K, is 320x240, and the file size is 8.17 Megs. I have a wmv that is 1:49, encoded at 267K, is 320x240, and file size is 3.44 Megs. Both have a text watermark. Hopefully your latest batch will come closer to those numbers.

Have a feeling it is the editor - I might drop you a PM over the next couple days with some questions if this batch doesn't come out properly - I think we have a model doing the video encoding right now... So the batch may need to be sent to me for coding... Might want to ask you a few more questions then if you don't mind :)

That's fine. I am always happy to help out when it is a subject I know something about.
Any message will get to me quicker through a messenging prog, though, as I don't usually have the time to hit any boards.
