Got a new computer here, used to use something called AVG but it is now buggy and part of what caused my 2nd , well actually 3rd hard drive crash last week when I had to build a new comp....

I also used Norton 2004 before, you can re enter your key and re install it gives you another year everyt ime but I can't find my copy of norton 2004 and the site has norton 2005... of course the key doesn't work - Norton was kind of a bitch too.

So ... What Virus Protection Software do you use? And do you know where I could download Norton '04 if I need to go that route... Prefer not to pay for anything at the moment...

Norton Internet Security is what we use right now and i have to say, im loving it :)

We also use SpySweeper to remove spyware and we've been spyware free for close to 2 years now :)

It can be a pain in the ass but I have to agree Norton kept me clean... Do you have the 2004 version Lee? If so and you have it saved could you upload to your server so I could download it? I have my key and all...

I have been using AVG for a few years with no problems at all... IMHO it's a good program... I have fixed pc's infected that were running Norton and still got messed up with viruses... I'm not sure that they kept up to date with definitions when they got hit but anyways... that's my 2 cents

a search on a torrent site should be no problem to find a copy of Norton or definitely on irc

Well we recently moved about 50 domains across from Webair after we were told we should reconsider hosting with them after defending the integrity of SweetT.

I wouldnt say they were seriously messed up, just not organized how id like them to be presently.

I like to be able to log in to a server and know exactly where to find stuff when i need it LOL

On my last comp before I cleaned the drives off when I got this new one... HAd 4 anti spyware's I ran daily :yowsa: !!!

AVG Was running great for me till recently... The last update I kept getting kernel errors and the blue screen of death after installing it, and this was on a fresh SATA drive...

I run AVG on Toni's computer because for some reason Nortons slows WIN98 right down and I can't be arsed to upgrade her OS :agrin:

But for XP Nortons is sweet as a nut :)

Never heard of AVG. I'm using ZoneAlarm for the last year and pretty happy with it.

AVG is a virus checker.

Zonealarm is a firewall, I use it on top of my windows firewall.

My old lady has a 1.2 ghz with a 60 gig drive...

I know I am sitting on a 3.2 now, and it used to be a 2.6 BUT - That thing has about 1/10th the speed of my old computer if she is lucky. Now she has had it for I believe 3 years as she had it for a year before we had nicholette.... So the thing, in computer terms, is OLD!

I told her, "Let me save the important stuff off your hard drive... Reformat it ... And you can reinstall everything it will run so much quicker" - Nope she won't have NONE OF THAT!!!

So when I built this recent computer I am left with a shell I only need a stick of ram and a CD-Burner and she has a 2.6 ghz computer BRAND NEW with 2 formatted drives in it.. "You just think my computer is slow, it is fine for me!" is the reply I get

I swear to god I want to slap the hell out of her, LOL ....

Women can be more stubborn then mules, they should restate that slogan "Stubborn as a woman"

Norton all the way ... and I'm suprised a thread like this has gone on this long without the Norton-bashers showing up.

The simple fact of the matter is, in the "big picture" it boils down to user preference.

And, of course, my response to you on THAT issue is ...

I used to use Norton AV, but I use Avast now, which works great and is free to boot.
