The Supreme Court rules that wine buyers can purchase directly from wineries in other states. The court struck down a ban on interstate shipment of wine, calling it discriminatory and anti-competitive.

I'm glad I drink beer...I can walk down to the convenience store and buy
a six pack. :P :hic:
That's one weird law. I can only guess it goes back to prohibition

The Supreme Court rules 5-4 that states cannot outlaw mail-order wine
shipments from out-of-state
5-4 is tight. look for that to be revisited when the SCOTA is mixed up.

That depends on who follows - not sure this is a typical left/right split.
Also doesn't change anything immediately - but raises some issues for the legislatures of the 21(?) states that have laws prohibiting or regulating it.

I had to re-read that, I thought Grimm said his SCROTUM was mixed up.
I was about to ring the "too much information" bell.

Looks like it doesn't help those of us in Georgia. Georgia laws aren't of the type being ruled on by the Supreme Court and go a good deal further unfortunately to restrict shipment.
I need to figure out which border state has the easiest laws and go get a mailbox there.

state governments still hold a trump card in this. when prohibition was repealed it was put in the hands of the states, and the power to allow and disallow liquor sales across state borders still resides there.
