View Full Version : Type In Domains What Good Are They?
http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_...p://www.men.com (http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?&compare_sites=weed.com&y=r&q=&url=http://www.men.com)
Id think those two domains would at least get some decent traffic flow.
Yet they seem to be real low in the scope of grander things.
Your thoughts?
Should type-in domains aslo have brandability in place to make them profitable?

Type-in domains value isn't for quantity of traffic but rather the quality traffic one gets from someone looking for a specific thing or theme. Building it up beyond the type-ins is always great but the greatest asset it has is the type-ins as those are most easily sold and/or marketed to. A more general domain like men.com is harder because you still have to filter the traffic as compared to something like voyeur.com where they are looking for a specific type of information/product.

I have a hentai domain that gets 3 or 4 joins a mth , for doing nothing. :)
Love it :)
If I only had thousands of those ...
Then.................
I wouldn't have to work hard lad daldladadada
Every day I'd ladadadadum
if I had 1000 type in domains..
I wouldn't have to
ahhh never mind :)
Most people who type in a domain name like men.com into their address bar, generally speaking...are internet newbs (the exception being any webmaster related domain names) ....
How many internet newbs have even heard of Alexa, nevermind download the Alexa toolbar?
Personally, I think those numbers do NOT represent the actual typein traffic the domain gets....
That said, type in traffic is the best....as nick says....do nothing and collect your checks....with targeted type in traffic you can't go wrong. ;)
What the spammer said ^^^
Domains are something I've been drooling over getting in. It's all about traffic - a domain gets 30 type ins a day - that's 900 clicks a month...assured. It's fuckin' guaranteed traffic and the net is still growing - those numbers will increase over time.
That's why people seem to be willing to pay up to 3 years of revenue for a type in domain and will laugh at a "branded" site asking more than a year or so (a year is generous). There's no fuckin' work with type ins. Buy it and sell the clicks to someone else.
It's one of the most secure, and from what I gather so far, probably most expensive long term business plans. I still love it and wish I knew more about it.
To know you have X amount of traffic daily, regardless of buying it - updating sites to keep the punters coming back, blah blah has to make the players in that field cream their pants. What other investment is there that will pay for itself after a couple years and leave the rest for 100% profit?

Undeveloped type-in domains that are just sending clicks directly to sponsors made guys like Webfather a ton of money.
However, they have decreasing returns as the internet matures and the surfers get more savvy. The magic is indeed that newbie surfer who just comes along and types "porn" or "big tits" right into the browser's URL line. Back in the day that would always see ".com" appended and go right to "porn.com" or "bigtits.com" or whatever.
The browsers are more and more often grabbing that to send to their own favored search engine. And although there will always be newbies, they are coming online with more knowledge, more assistance and more protection.

I blame Rick for having such a prickly personality, and wearing shirts with his faces airbrushed on them.
Because of this, I ignored him for a fool....
But the in reality it was me who was the fool.

Nick, you can sit on beach and still make a nice living.

If you guys are serious.....why aren't to you working your portfolio? I know several of you have the $$ to spare.... ;)
Better late than never.....in fact, you are better off buying them now than say 3 years ago when prices were ridiculously inflated....they seemed to have evened out over the last year or so....
Check it out:
http://www.afternic.com/namesbyc.php?c=4&
There are plenty of good adult (I haven't looked at non-adult yet) domains for sale there....and GOOD ones too....all for under 10k (some VERY cheap!)
including:
unshaven.com - asking $7500US - overture: 1165 unshaven
hotblondes.com - asking $6900US - overture: 48495 hot blonde (includes plural so take that into account)
xxxclips.com - starting bid $580US- overture: 6116 xxx clip
nudecalendars.com - starting bid $700US - overture: 3498 nude calendar
nakedphotos.com - starting bid $525US - overture: 12270 naked photo (includes plural so take that into account)
I could go on....
your best bet is going as niche specific as possible for the best targeted traffic...nakedphotos.com is a great one...but, not very niche....you could use it as a hub to filter traffic....
ALWAYS ask for proof of traffic including all domain stats over the last year.
Disclaimer: I have no idea how well the above domains perform...I chose the above based on an educated guess. I also have no idea the value of any of them....I would have to see stats in order to calculate value....
Afternic is a good idea, shame it's full of half wits who think "plug-hole.com" is worth 5k!!!
I tried to auction off intensehardcore.com a few years back... I didn't think it would go as bad as it did....
