The Complete List of the 1,000 Top U.S. Schools

Public schools are ranked according to a ratio devised by Jay Mathews: the number of Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate tests taken by all students at a school in 2004 divided by the number of graduating seniors.

Nah.. Wisconsin is consistently at the top for many of the categories that actually determine things like getting in college, academic performance on standardized tests, etc.. this seems like arather subjective way to evaluate schools.

I attended an all boys catholic school, St. Joseph's Academy.

I wish I had a picture to show you but my old high school alma mater
went belly-up. All I have is memories. :)

Yet US News and World Report listed it as a top 5 school 6 years ago - I guess it's gone downhill :(

Hillsbourough HS was ranked #10 by Newsweek, yet it received a D from the State of Florda ranking.
