The best one was the gay panel at Phoenix..

'Whats A Reality Site?'

Oh, that was a question from one of the panelists btw, not an audience member ;)

I especially like the panels in an area where you may have some knowledge and you read through the lists and go:

"Who is he?"
What!!!Why is he on there he hasn't a clue"

But, in all fairness, I've found that over the years the info I've offered up freely to those that sought me out has paid me back in spades. There are some that have been paying me back for me paying forward.

So, not all in this business fortunately are assholes like Nick.

What do you think I was doing with Condom / Netpond?

I STILL offer great advice to newbies , it goes like this..

"You are a moron. You haven't a clue. There is a good reason why some people in this business can make fortunes , hell spend fortunes , and make one again and some never EVER do.You can't. Get a job and don't risk an association with porn that makes you neglible money jepordising the rest of your career.Failed porner does not look good on yr resume"

:)

It also applies to a lot of veterans....

This business still comprises the following groups..

1.) Opportunists that see this as a way to cheaply market to millions and are not so much porners as opportunist marketers.ie they will sell widgets if that is where the money is (Me , for instance)
2.) People for whom its a lifestyle choice
3.) Morons looking for the easy money they heard of
4.) Kids making "fun" money (some eventually become sect 1.)
5.) People who really can't do anything else.

Fuck...

You're right...

I am an asshole!

Oh i agree, Bill. Its all all about separating the wheat from the chaff. There is much to be learned and good business to be done with the people who know what they are doing. These people will offer up good advice when pressed, but more often than not they arent the ones jumping at a chance to be on a panel. In my experience, the ones most eager to be on the panels are the ones most eager to sell you on something. and while it is a brilliant marketing tool, it isnt the information that needs to be disseminated on a Q & A panel to people just starting out, or looking for some sound advice, in my opinion:)

That being said, anyone who thinks they cannot learn from others, will never learn at all, but in this day and age you have to take every bit of information for what its worth.

Never been to a seminar so i don't know. I would imagine the majority of them really aren't much I would be interested in. Get the right people to answer questions on the board and you can have your own seminar right here. Get a discussion about processing going for example and have KK come in and everybody should perk their ears up.

Interesting question, how would you sell a seminar to a relative newbie?

Hell Puppy

Seminars are a tough nut to crack for the industry.

No one is going to sit in the front of the room and tell you all their current tricks for generating money and traffic and how to do it. Techniques for both have limited shelf life typically and putting the word out shortens that shelf life considerably.

So you often end up with retreaded information about things that have largely lost their effectiveness aimed at newbies.

They are often self serving to the presenters. Has their ever been a show where the usual gang of industry lawyers hasn't done their chicken little impersonation? Sure, some of the info is useful, but there's more than a little application of scare tactics to drum up business as well.

For seminars to work there has to be some quid pro quo. And there isn't a lot of cooperative work in this industry due to the high percentage of scammers and resulting lack of trust.

Only seminar I attended in Vegas wasn't really a seminar. NATS was doing presentations off the show floor where they were giving detailed demos of the software and answering questions. But that's a great example of quid pro quo. I was looking at affiliate software, that gave me a chance to see much more of it and interact with the NATS gang in a way that is impossible online and can only be done face to face. And for them, everyone in that seminar is a highly qualified lead.

There may be more opportunities for those type of tracks at future shows as the tools of the industry grow in complexity.

I think her point was that if she could earn enough money online to do a seminar, then why waste money going to a seminar that wants to help her make money online
