Password trading is still rampant as ever. What methodology do you use to protect your members area and why?

We have a in-house developed system, since all the systems I have seen have too many security holes or the companies behind them lacks basic customer service.

We build it into our backend, so it not only work as a security system, but also provides data, which is used in support, and CMS.

But for those who have more basic needs, then you could also look at http://www.proxypass.com/ :)

Just put one angry housewife with a $500 recurring CC statement in one hand and a sharp cleaver in the other at the front door of your paysite. That will keep them out! :yowsa:

We use Strongbox and are very happy with it but if that doesn't work then we put Alex in a suitcase and send him over.

Strongbox. I am very happy with it and Ray is really good people.

I like Cleos back up plan, I may need to get something like that. :awinky:

Whatever the host supplies or Pennywize.

Iprotect is good.

I haven't looked at Strongbox.

Pennywize has the added benefit of being able to cut someone off after they've transferred a certain number of bytes like the old BBS days. No single user needs 25 gigs of porn in a day to get a nut.

Been using Pennywize for years

Like that it allows me to redirect any user of a compromised password to anywhere I want

Plus I've been able to get support from them at just about anytime


Way, way back in the day I'd leak passwords on purpose nd redirect tthe traffic and make $$$$ from it

Doesn't work quite as well in these times

That shit is tame.

I won't divulge what we use to protect the member areas. If the enemy doesn't know what your defenses are, their attacks are generally broad spec'd and impotent.

Speaking as a hosting company... the only software I've seen work EVERY time is http://www.proxypass.com

I don't like the fact that we can't obtain but a negligible discount on it but when clients ask me what I recommend it's the only one that I talk about. Everything else always seems to fall short on delivering. I tend to judge this type of software solution not on the 99% of the time that it is working fine but on the 1% when it is not.
