it is good to see the quantity of posts has surpassed one of the other various boards that are out there,

The contest money is gravy (good thing since my food seems to have been dry for a few months). I make pretty damn good money from posting over there - and here. :) Not to mention I can post on several boards, answer emails and ICQs all at the same time - all money makers.

Throw in a phone call and it all goes to hell in a handbag though :(

Well, you're a professional Sig-Ho....that's kind of a different animal. As is those who are employed by a board or have some sort of equity interest.

Those type users will be there whether the paid posting or contests were there or not.

It's the guys who'll suddenly dedicate a significant portion of their day to hanging out on a board just because there's a contest going or they're paying double reward points, or whatever that I dont get.

Yeah, the business is tougher now, but if they applied that same amount of time to growing and grooming your little empire, you'd make much more in the long term.

Maybe I"m wrong about that and finally the cost of entry has started to turn. There's not a lot of free sources of traffic these days. Even the TGPs are mostly pay to play or you gotta spend the money to have good hosting and content that is pretty fresh.

I think Alexa is the best benchmark we have.
