O.K. Original discussion was here, http://www.oprano.com/msgboard/index.php?showtopic=18076

Now I am doing my thing... Run a ton of ANti-Spyware... couple dribbles found no viruses etc... Anyways - 4 hours later BAM! Procesor is flatlining at 100% computer was ocked up, literaly... So I open up the computer...

Heatsync is fine....

I changed from 166mhz - which makes the 2.02 run at 2600 overclocked to 133, it then booted up as I think 1800 mhz and said it was overclocked? WTF

Then I drop to 100 mhz... 1250 is the operating speed.... Again saying I am overclocked.

Any ideas computer experts ?

Mike Fold, saw you listed on the names of people surfing - you're a bastard :)

Have you tried reflashing the bios? Had a similar problem once and that solved it for me.

EDIT- found the link for you to start with.

I have heard many of horror stories about flashing the bios - Granted most were when people decided to upgrade their MB when then didn't need to... But, I will contact Asus and ask for their recommendations prior to any flash BIOS upgrades - don't exactly have a windows rollback when you get into that territory :)

I've had some really off the wall shit happen from RAM going bad

I agree... if the processor were fried it would not work at all...

Yeah but if the Ram were fried, especially DDRAM... which it is I have two 512K bytes running - you would think you would see the ram acting quirky at last somewhat, no ?

are you getting a page fault? if you are running ie, you might have the startpage virus, most virus checkers miss it.

A power supply that is going bad will have you chasing your tail trying to nail down the problem. Might want to check that by swapping it out if you have a spare.
