Pretty sure i fried my procesor but not my MB.. Weird thing is I prefer it was the other way around as it might of been cheaper lol.. Not sure yet haven't priced anything out.

Anyways I need to pickup a AMD processor.. running the 2.6 right now (or is it 2.4?) overclocked and while my ram is holding steady at maybe 20-40% usage the processor is kickign up to 70% PLUS !! Not good, processor has got to be fried as if it was the mother board it would be causing more issues than with just the processor ..... Wish I had a way to run a diagnostic on it, but oh well...

Anyways, I need to pick up a new processor.. Anyone know a place where you can

A) Punch in your mother board (I think ASUS787NX) and find out the highest speed processor that will plug in..

B) The cheapest place to buy computer parts that is reputable... Egghead.com ?

TIA

uh, if your processor is fried it wont run at all.

unless I misunderstood your post

Guile, what what cause the extreme overload on my processor ? A burnt out motherboard would show other symptoms I would think... This processor is acting like it is a 400 mhz processor overclocked to run at 4Gig .... Non stop 20 - now 90% usage

I was going to post but AMD yuck. get a real proc man P4 extreme. AMD SUCKS!!!

and don't bring me those well known charts and performance graphs. I have tried them and they suck. I will put my pc against any AMD equivalent.

no overclocking needed.

spyware? excessive swapping? If its a recent CPU, they slow down when under excessive heat... so maybe the contact to your heatsink is not as good as it was, or one of your fans died.

but this isnt a car.... a cpu doesnt work bad... it works or it doesnt...If it didnt work right, it wouldnt become slow, it would be unstable.

That's retarted.

P4 Extreme Edition is one of the biggest ripoff.... price to performance ratio sucks.

I like Pentium's better than AMDs myself, but as with everything, it's no reason to go nuts...

ermn plus it is amd. jajaja but yes you have to make sure your heatsink is doing its job right.

one of the problems with that processor design is heat dissipation too little area to pt in contact with heat sink. that is one of the reasons p4 droped that design.

no its not.

you get close to pentium xeon performance on a home pc. now if you dont want to spend that then get regular p4 with HT

it works just as well.

My point exactly ;)

edit:

some relevant benchmarks for our industry:

why buy the EE instead of the 570? I dont know...

Inabon

agreed.

fuck EE but still buy P4 :)

fuck AMD
