sarettah
04-27-2005, 07:23 PM
A smackdown dragout site building sales melee.

4 teams, each with an experienced sales pro and a site builder competing in the only way that really matters.

Earning The Most Cash, Money, Bling, Dough.

Each team will build their best sales generating site and then will receive 10,000 hits to sell as much as they can to.

The contestants are:

Trev the Tyrant mentoring Becki the newbie

BillPMB The Mega Sales Master coaching Nick "whos your papa" Papageorgio

EclectiXXX the Energizer helping Jizz the Bizz the newbie wizz

and Mister X assisting Sarettah the sales midget

The contest:

The building period for the contest will begin RIGHT NOW, Wednesday, April 27.

The building period will go until May 11, 2005 when the hits will start to be delivered.

The hits will be delivered over roughly a 3 week period ending approximately June 1st.

The sales period of the contest will end when the last hit is delivered and has been processed.

The contest will be judged on 3 criteria.:

1. Total conversions (include free sign ups that might not generate sales) and email addresses collected (25% of contest points)

2. Total number of sales (25% of contest points)

3. Total sales dollars (50% of contest points)

The prizes (so far):

Can Now Be Found Here: http://www.oprano.com/msgboard/index.php?showtopic=18067 :)

(if any advertisers, sponsors or individuals would like to add to the pot, hit me up)

Rules:

Teams may build whatever they want, no holds barred. The only rule is the site(s)
cannot have existed prior to the beginning of the contest.

Modification: April 29: After discussing it among the participants, it has been decided that toolbars, scumware, adware, spyware (and associated ilk) are not allowed as saleable products.

The sites will NOT be submitted to SE's or Lists/TGPs in order to limit the outside
traffic as much as possible.

The sites may be tweaked throughout the sales period.

Content:

Teams may use whatever content they want, their own, sponsor content, whatever.

In addition, to help level the playing field,

Bestat of Exclusive Content
http://www.oprano.com/banners/ecbutton120x60ani_03.gif (http://www.exclusivecontent.com)

and

MaDalton of Amazing Content
http://www.amazingcontent.com/images/sig/g2m_ac.gif (http://www.amazingcontent.com)

have agreed to provide content sets to contestants that may need them.

Thank You Bestat and MaDalton.

In addition to that anyone using Depraved Dollars (http://www.depraveddollars.com) or Cloud9Cash (http://www.cloud9cash.com) as sponsors can get access to some special "Contest Only" sponsor sets that Red and Vick have graciously provided. Thanx Guys !!

Sponsors

The following Oprano Advertisers and Family Programs are recommended as sponsors in the contest:

AlMighty Content (http://www.almightycontent.com)
Amateur Webmaster (http://www.amateurwebmaster.com)
Homegrown Cash (http://www.homegrowncash.com)
Pussy Cash (http://www.pussycash.com)
Rectal Revenue (http://www.rectalrevenue.com)
Yanks Cash (http://www.yankscash.com)
VOD TopBucks (http://vod.topbucks.com)
SPA Cash (http://www.spacash.com/)
AEBN (http://www.aebn.com)
PornMegaBucks (http://www.pornmegabucks.com)
Cloud9cash (http://www.cloud9cash.com)
Live Bucks/Private Feeds (http://www.livebucks.com)
Evil Genius Cash (http://www.evilgeniuscash.com/)
MacDaddyBucks (http://www.macdaddybucks.com/)
Depraved Dollars (http://www.depraveddollars.com)

(If I have missed any advertisers or Family Programs, I apologize. Please hit me up and I will add you to the list.)

Modified April 29 to reflect a group discussion. All sponsors my be used. While Oprano advertisers and family programs are preferred, sponsor selection is part of an overall sales strategy and should not be restricted. Further Teams do not have to reveal which programs they are using until the sales period of the contest kicks in.

Hit delivery:

Hits will be delivered beginning May 11th to a landing page on a url that will not be revealed. A script on the landing page will control the delivery of hits to each team's site.

In addition, each team may point their exit hits at a recycle landing page that will allow the team to receive trades on a one to one basis. Trade in a hit, get a fresh hit back.

Throughout the contest, there will be a pinned thread in either the main forum or
the help forum where builders will make daily progress reports on their efforts and may request help, advice and reviews from the general board population.

Judges-Umpires

There will be 3 umpires assigned to help verify the results and to be decision makers in any disputes that arise.

Currently the only official umpire is Dravyk of Content God (http://www.contentgod.com) and AllOfem (http://allofem.com) but by the time they are needed we will have more on board.

So, Builders, Mentors, ARE YOU READY ????

Get your asses in gear and lets roll !!!!!!!

I would also like to thank Joesho, Inabon and Boldy of Remotethumbs.com (http://www.remotethumbs.com)

Joesho for the hit delivery and Inabon for volunteering Boldy's scripting skills...

Thanks Guys, you rock !!

[Middle English (an) oumpere, (an) umpire, alteration of (a) noumpere, a mediator, from Old French nonper : non-, non- + per, equal, even, paired (from Latin pr. See pair).]
Word History: Had it not been for the linguistic process known as false splitting or juncture loss, the angry, anguished cry “Kill the ump” could have been “Kill the nump.” In the case of umpire we can almost see this process in action by studying the Middle English Dictionary entry for noumpere, the Middle English ancestor of our word. Noumpere comes from the Old French nonper, made up of non, “not,” and per, “equal”: as an impartial arbiter of a dispute between two people, the arbiter is not equivalent to or a partisan of either of them. In Middle English the earliest recorded form is noumper (about 1350); the earliest dated form without an n is owmpere, from 1440. How the n was lost can be seen if we compare the sequence a noounpier in a text written in 1426-1427 with the sequence an Oumper from a text written probably around 1475. The n of noumpere has here become attached to the indefinite article, giving us an instead of a and, eventually, umpire instead of *numpire. The same process of false splitting is responsible for the forms apron and adder, originally napron and naddre, as well as many other words that once began with n. False splitting also caused some words that originally began with vowels to have an n from a preceding indefinite article added on, such as nickname (from the phrase an eke name) and newt (from an eute).

An umpire would do what umpires do...

For most of the thing, probably nothing at all. At the end, verifying the results.

If there was a dispute of some sort, you might be called on to investigate and if you caught a cheater of some version you would get to blast em...Or congratulate them if it was creative enough cheating :)

I know I need some "impartial" folks to help, I know itt is always better to have an odd number, so there are no ties. and I know I wanted folks who have been around for a long time and most people would trust.

So, I asked Dravyk, You and Dig :)

Thanx for mentioning that Aeon.

This is what we know about the traffic we will be getting.

from: http://www.oprano.com/msgboard/index.php?showtopic=17657&hl=

The person judged to be the MVP for that period will have 40,000 hits ( all targeted Adult , representing a rich mixture of SE hits and TGP hits) delivered to a url of their choosing over the next 3 weeks

They are the result of this: http://www.oprano.com/msgboard/index.php?showtopic=17875&hl=

These are the 40,000 hits I won. I am recycling them.

So, pretty much what we know is that they are adult :)

Ok, just a note

In the original concept of this, the only prizes envisioned were the actual sales dollars and the learning experience.

Then Nick came up with the 15k hits :) Then I remembered that I had a $200.00 credit sitting with Tootie since last Fall sometime and decided just to make the pot a little sweter.

Now Lee has come forward :)

So, it looks like there might be some prizes to spread around between the first and second place teams etc.

So, I am asking Newton right here and now to be in charge of how the prize pot is split up among the winners.

Thanx in advance Newton :)

That's just a language barrier thing.

It has nothing to do with salad and more to do with one's ability to read the rule book

More to do with not wiping one's ass with it.

IMHO ;)

What kind of traffic - clicked, blind, 404, TGP, SE, etc., and what niche...?

Not knowing what kind of traffic is like throwing shit against a wall and hoping it sticks.
Thanx for mentioning that Aeon.

This is what we know about the traffic we will be getting.

from: http://www.oprano.com/msgboard/index.php?showtopic=17657&hl=

The person judged to be the MVP for that period will have 40,000 hits ( all targeted Adult , representing a rich mixture of SE hits and TGP hits) delivered to a url of their choosing over the next 3 weeks

They are the result of this: http://www.oprano.com/msgboard/index.php?showtopic=17875&hl=

These are the 40,000 hits I won. I am recycling them.

So, pretty much what we know is that they are adult :)[/b][/quote]

I have put up a rule modification.

After some group discussion among the participants, the following two changes have been made:

1. Toolbars, scumware, spyware, adware and all related ilk are now on the outlawed products list.

2. The teams may use the sponsors of their choice, although it is recommended that they use Oprano advertisers and family programs whenever possible. It was successfully argued that sponsor selection is part of an overall sales strategy and that restricting it is not in the best interests of a contest that will be measured by overall sales. Furthermore, teams do not have to reveal their sponsors until the sales period of the contest kicks in.

Hopefully that is the last of the clarifications/modifications....

But I doubt it :yowsa:

Well damn, someone pinned me :)

Are we going steady or something now

But it was just in time. Because

The counters have been reset to zero

The scripts have had their final tweaks

All evidence has been destroyed

And the Sales portion of the Contest has now Officially started.

Any sales or activity from this moment through when the final hit is delivered (and that depends on the hitman) counts for the contest.

Good Luck to everyone involved, I hope we all get something out of this.

When I asked the hitman said "that day" :) I asked for them to turn them on at around 6:00 cst, so I assume "that day" menas they will start sometime during the next 24 hours.

We are all winners :yowsa:

So far not much happening sales wise. But Nick , Trev and I have been posting in the progress thread (reference above post)

as far as the ladning pages go... http://www.xxxac.com/viewcontest.htm Click the link and you can cycle through the pages as if you are the hits coming in

7041 hits delivered to the contest so far, so each team has received one quarter or so of those hits as fresh hits. Then we are all trading them to the trade script at exit, so each hit has a chance of being handled by all teams involved.

So each team has recived around 1750 fresh hits and then an unknown number of recycled hits depending on where the surfer went to a sponsor or managed to get out of the circle somehow :)

NickPapageorgio
05-24-2005, 09:38 PM
I switched my landing page up to try and get the most from this shitty traffic. I mean, I was 0:400 so far today on AAC for free email signups. You tell me.

BUT!!!!

I have learned many new and very valuable things from this and I don't really care about the traffic or sales at this point. :) It's the knowledge that I take from this that I value the most.

Emails collected is part of the 25% I think. Hold on, let me click my sig and check :yowsa:

The rules say:

1. Total conversions (include free sign ups that might not generate sales) and email addresses collected (25% of contest points)

I am not sure what I meant by that...lol... The original idea was for the first grade to encompass everything and the second grade to encompass a count from grade 1 that actually had a dollar amount attached. Those are each worth 25% of the total. And the actual dollars generated is 50%.
