I need a new laptop, can anyone suggest me one ?

Priority 1
I need a fast disc, pref 7200 rpm sata
1 gig ram
17" 1920x1600

I dont care about speakers and other gaming shit.

I looked at the HP located here: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping...=computer_store (http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/computer_series.do?series_name=zd8000_series&catLevel=2&category=notebooks/hp_pavilion&storeName=computer_store)

but that one has a 4200 RPM disc.

I need a good machine, as you might know i'm fucking them up fast ...
Any suggestions ?

Thanks

B.

I just got an Acer Travelmate 4501i that I'm very happy with, but I don't know if it would be up to your specs.

i have the same problem an ibm top of the line centrino i bought exactly a year ago. the screen is a piece of shit.

one thing i didnt bother to check is the screen and now i realise thats the most important factor in laptops

I believe Toshiba laptops have xbrite as well
Tosshiba makes ome of the best laptops too

2 things to look for are batery life and the screen. well i got 5.5 hour battery life but horrible screen.

centrino is a must as well

maybe i need some drivers that i'm not aware of to improve the screen quality that i'm not aware of, anyone got any suggestions ?

I don't know about their laptops but I absolutlely LOVE my Dell desktop as it's been light years ahead of my old computer in reliability so I would happily buy a Dell laptop if I needed one.

I only buy Dells. There customer support has always been on the ball. We had a laptop that was out of warranty by 4 months - the monitor got cracked ( our fault) and after a little harassing they sent someone out to replace it for free.

Their prices are hard to beat as well.

From my understanding those are primarily bought by hardcore computer gamers rather than for work.

I currently have an Area 51m and love it. No problems so far (just over a year) and had another Alienware before that also worked without any problems for a couple of years. I use mine constantly and they get turned off rarely. The few times I have called Alienware with questions they have been quickly answered by people that actually knew the computer and were obviously familiar with my model.

I have friends who have Clevos and Liebermanns and they are happy with them also.

I like my Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop. 1.7 Ghz Pentium M processor and a 7200 rpm h.d.d., it is fast enough for video editing too.
