If you really like it keep on trying. They may have their price but it might be more than you are willing to pay. Good luck, I hope you can get it.

Serge,

He is your son , so you can't whack him.....BUT LOL..he is a teenager , There must be SOMETHING he wants more than that painting...

If he REALLY adores that painting and will not part with it....all I can say from one father to another is congratulations.commiserations !! You have bred an art lover. ;-)))

EVERYTHING I own is for sale at the right price... ;-)))

he isn't a teenager anymore....and I'd rather buy it than exchange it for what he really-really want
;)

Serge - Don't know if it's appropriate but can you start hinting about a nice oil painting you can treasure from your son for a Father's Day present
A gift that will last a lifetime

I am thinking more along the lines of telling him that:
He is GREAT, just like Van Gohg, and it's OK to be supported by a relative...Vincent's brother bought ALL Van Gohg's paitings but 2 or 3, so this is a sign of greatness.

Let's see if "Vanity is my favorite sin" aproach works
:)

BTW, Picasso's first works were supported by his female friend. In my son't other paiting, he hints that he has one and his mother is not very much fond of her.

all I have to do now is locate her and buy it thru her
;)

You can have your son's painting for nothing...

Tell your son that the painting should be admired by family and friends, and that by hanging it above the mantel of the fireplace he would pleasure all who come in contact with it. :)
