i know when your working with people on a day to day basis you get to know them and become friends - if one of your webmaster friends happened to die would you attend the funeral -

ive seen a lot of threads lately about people other people have known passing on and was wondering - do you actually care enough about the person to attend or send on wishes to his family or flowers or whatevet it is you feel is appropriate

it would depend on the nature of the relationship, and of course how appropriate your presence would be.

most that i know personally i would attend in an instant. some i would be on the phone with the airlines before thinking about it

If I was readily available to go I would in an instant. In some cases, like now, I am unable to leave due to my wife being ready to pop anyday.

With that said, I will do my best to send flowers and let those effected know I am unable to attend.

I hate funerals. However, honoring a loved one or a friend is not about what I like, It's about paying respects. I have lost loved ones before and those who attended the funeral meant a lot to me. Some people I never met face to face... Quite a few I still don't know who they are... but I do know they were from the industry.

Funerals aren't - or shouldn't be - about death and dying. They're a celebration of someone's life so after the formality of the service it really should be party time.
