This is what I get for being the big mouth.

I guess it's "Put up or Shut up" time.

Thanks guys, who would have thunk it, as a Noob 7 years ago and reading the GBU, I'd be entrusted with it.

I'm going to do a little twist on the whole subject. Random Affiliate Programs, and they will get rated accordingly.

First one out come May Day.

Good to back on board, it's like I never left.

What imho should be reported:

1. How much traffic was sent
2. What type of traffic was sent
3. Percentage of traffic from source
4. What sites were sent too or what niche
5. How many first pages, how many join pages
6. How much money was made off of said joins.
7. ROI of click

....its not a perfect world though.

I have full faith that Anth will do it justice. It just goes to show you that no one here is immune when it comes time to call bullshit. The difference is that Id like to think that Nick and I are good enough businessmen that we make corrections to any and all issues. I have no ego to loose face with...Im a regular guy with nothing to loose.

Ive always been honest and blunt with my intentions as they pertain to Oprano. The intention was to extend the life of the GBU and continue the tradition of honest stats. Thats why the pages look pretty much as they did when Serge and Jim ran it.
Times change and so must we.

The intent for it is not as a weapon of terror to drive up Oprano advertising revenue nor to be paid a referal fee with sponsors executing a "reverse shave" using the referal codes to inflate the numbers. Theres plenty of that shit to be read elsewhere.

Anth I will see if I can get the new design in place for you before May 1st as well.

Now you dont have time to be up on weekends pissing with the Zoo!

Ant, would you consider opening up GBU to include not just porn sponsors? Lots of us work with mainstream sponsors and the mainstream world is full of rip off programs too - would be nice to have a place we could all report companies that don't pay or praise ones who do good work, might save us all a bit of time?

I have just the thing in the prize cupboard ;-))))

a lovely pair of cotton pyjamas in lilac or pink with a lavendar bath gift pack :biglaugh:

i've been having some luck with some really obscure mainstream stuff lately ... things like sms downloads, areas that are crossover from adult etc and I know lots of us do similar stuff lately 'experimenting' for the future. as we all know, experimenting is usually 50%+ mistakes LOL

maybe if he had some kind of nomination system where someone posts a good or bad experience, we all vote, post our experiences with that sponsor etc before adding them to gbu?

I am not confident enough to say 'add this sponsor to good', but it takes more than 1 person to say 'this sponsor is good' .....

my first nomination would be clickbank for ebooks ... its a pretty basic backend compared to what we are used to, but my checks arrive and they've provided the service they are supposed to well enough for me to learn the ins and outs.

yeah
checks like clockwork
they could definitely use a better backend/stats system, but as long as those checks come in every two weeks and continue to get bigger, they are good in my book

its as simple as this ....

think of niches in mainstream that are similar to what you are doing in adult and start there ....

if you already have a pharmacy site, you are only 1 step away from promoting herbal sites or natural health products .... add a few sponsors into your existing pharma sites .... there is a HUGE market for liver/stomach detox kits ..... there's a HUGE market for vitamins .... http://www.thenatureclinic.com - we sell around $1000 in products per month through our store, purely on a little se traffic nickdark generates for it ...

if you already have a tgp with generic porn, add a dvd sales company that has porno's and mainstream movies that also have sex scenes ....

I don't understand why more TGP's don't have ads like ....

WANNA SEE SEX ON THE BIG SCREEN?
Buy Movie Tickets Online at 20% off!!

think about what the surfer is going to do *after* they have masturbated and provide them with that ......

mr skin provides a good crossover from adult content to celebs as another example .... if you have any relevant celeb traffic you can promote all posters, dvd stores, amazon, music cd's, sms downloads ... endless list.

Don't see it as having to get into a whole new industry, its just adding a few extra options to what you already have ....

For me, everything I'm doing for my own business currently revolves around straight women/gay men, and so far I have about 50 potential industries i can work in with that traffic/content.

I made some ads for the nature clinic to go in PMA magazine ... HEALTH PRODUCTS FIT FOR A QUEEN ... with a pic of a bee on it (we sell a lot of propolis & bee pollen). with 1 cute caption, i turned the entire of nature clinic branding into a product that can be marketed to my gay/women adult traffic.

I haven't found 1 niche that's kicked ass for me, but i have dribbles coming in from all over the place ...

See I have hotspurs.com (just now found out it gets loads of se searches , its the nickname of a famous British Soccer team.

Would be a peice of piss to get it high in the SEs for all terms like that , then sell soccer related shit , make it a fan site....

I'm going through domains I own...I own some good ones...

cj
04-05-2005, 11:24 PM
exactly ...

there's the obvious things like soccer books from amazon, then there's soccer equipment from their sports store, then there's posters of all the soccer stars from all posters, probably a calendar etc.

AND ... most importantly

soccer >> sports book >> casino

there's also ....

soccer >> selling tickets to sports events >> club merchandise

and when in need of filler, dean's roar.com has great search box options where you get paid per click ;-)

In my local Sainsburys there's a Sunderland supporter’s shop ran by a lady I used to go to school with, and some of the mark-up on items is quite frightening. 72% on full home strips.

She has a football signed by the team for sale at £150 that only cost her £25 to buy from the club, she sold another football when we were in the premiership for £400

The expensive part she says is getting the franchise licence from the club to be an official supporters outlet. After that she just has to adhere to the set maximum for the mark-up and she's rolling in it.

I think developing a fan site with an online store would be an excellent idea :)

I don't know a supporter that doesn't have a bet on the match, hell even I have a go, usually first to score and when and first and second half final scores.

I've never been to a football ground that didn't have a betting office in both the home and away areas :)

I plan to stop doing adult sites not adult entirely. Hope to do some programming :). porn and non porn.

I have never done gambling sites or pills or any of the other "related" type sites. I have done adult sites and mainstream jewelry sites.

The mainstream jewelry sites are definitely not adult.

And as always, the best laid plans and all that... If I don't get bites on the domains I might keep what I have up. It isn't earning me anything, but it isn't costing me either. So, I am in a continual back and forth type thing there..
