I'm thinking a German Pope.

Either Walter Kasper, or Joseph Ratzinger.

Hopefully this one won't be such a bigot, arent there any entries from the Philippines?

I do hope this isnt like choosing a "winner" from the Eurovision Song Contest

Maybe the new pope should be arabic or asian - would surely make an impact in those fundamentalist areas of the world...

I guess it will be one these Cardinals who will be pope?

Could be someone like the Cardinal from Honduras, lets them appear more progressive and world wide in the power distribution.

No matter who it is, you can bet it'll be someone just as conservative as John Paul II. He went to great efforts to insure the electors share his conservatism. He will spin in his grave if the next Pope does something like ok birth control or worse yet remove the celibacy requirement for priests.

seriously though, ( i am not catholic) but I would think that since the south American countries are predomantly catholic from birth, and it is the over whelming religion of that part of the world, that it be only fitting to have a POPE from there
