I agree Bishop. The question I found myself asking was are they fighting for her or for themselves...

I was a little concerned that one of there spokespeople , I believe the brother, was constantly described as "The Family's Spiritual Advisor"

Isn't he just "the brother"

I think it's just going to get worse now. All of the religious groups who latched onto her "struggle" in order to get their mugs on camera now have a martyr. Get ready for the spouting off and lobbying to ensure that "nobody without a voice will ever get murdered like this again" etc. etc. yada yada.

No ... the "Brother" who is referred to as the family's spiritual adviser is a Catholic Monk.

Terry's biological brother, however, has become quite the darling of the religous right. I would not be too suprised if he went from the lecture circuit into party politics at some point in the future.

I just spend about 40 minutes flipping through the cable news channels - about 19 minutes each on CNN & MSNBC, and an excruciating two minutes on FOX (any longer on FOX and the intact condition of my television is in grave danger). The so-called spokespersons for the Schindler family are bitterly denouncing the courts for not "reflecting the will of the people." The "will of the people", in this case, means "the will of the people who think like I tell 'em gawd wants 'em to think."

I've been through this kind of family disaster when my own mother died. My grandmother accused my brother and I of killing my mother when we disconnected her life support. Had my mother gone into this condition just a short while later, we probably would not have been able to do so because of the Nancy Cruzan case - a right-to-die case in the 80s, where good old Johnny Ashcroft spend years litigating against the rights of a family to disconnect life support from a woman far more profoundly brain dead than Shiavo.

On FOX, the anchor was posing a question linking the Schiavo case with the Gonzalez (Cuban kid sent back to his father in Cuba) case - doing the linking with a grace best described as using a crowbar as a shoehorn. On both MSNBC and CNN, "family supporters" were doing just what ThrobX was predicting - claiming that this case will make it possible to "eliminate nusiance individuals".

if it will 'eliminate nusiance individuals' like the "family supporters", it has enough merit to be looked at...
