Reports are coming back from some people that with this second quake the whole areas "moral" is rock bottom.

Usually after a major disaster like Boxing Day's Tidal Wave people can gain comfort from the belief that these things happen only every 200 plus yrs , that crutch has been taken away from them.

Found it interesting is all.

I've been watching the news also, Officials said up to 300 people had been killed on Indonesia's Banyak Islands in addition to the 1,000 feared dead on the island of Nias.

The massive rescue operation is still under way after the quake, measuring 8.7 on the Richter scale.

It's impossible to imagine the psychological impact of all this. Terrible. My brother was over there during the last tragedy (he may still be; he's hard to pin down) and also noted that with these tragedies comes the exodus of tourists, of course... so the economic infrastructure is now totally screwed... making not just rebuilding, but surviving at all, an even greater challenge than it would otherwise be.
