That link is generic english slang... Every area has it's own individual slang... mines Geordie and Nicks is Cock-ney.

I'm a tough Northern bastard and he's a soft Southern bastard... We're both still bastards because we're British

In the deep south where I live there is quite a bit of slang that even northerners don't understand...

"I'm fixin' to"
"Ya'll"
"biskits and maters"

;-)

dokk
03-22-2005, 12:14 PM
And the northerners have expressions that the southerners do not understand.. like:

"bumbershoot"

;-)

Translates into:

Translates to:

Naw ... the motor car had nuthin to do with it. Half the area came Kentuck & Tensee 'bout 70 year fore the horseless carriage got common.

Lot of English and Scottish folk round here too ... they usta really dig coal.

Another problem with my neck of the woods is it's hard to hit the highway in springtime without running into a gawking Mormon tourist with Utah plates.

I'm about 25 miles from where the prophett Joesph Smith got kilt, and 40 miles from Navoo, which was the settlement they established after getting run out of Missouri and just before they migrated out to Utah.

You have a lot of history knowledge in you.. that's cool.
I didn't know any of that stuff.

Thanks for sharing with me, now I know a little more than I did which wasn't much. ;-)))

That be the headquarters of the big old cult in Independence, Missouri.......

I never get it right whether it's Mormon or Latter Day Saints od Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints or what.....

But they build big old gaudy temples of doom wherever they go.
