View Full Version : What Kind Of Music Do you Like?

Just curious if you were programming a 24/7 radio station what kind of format everyone would pick.

grimm
03-16-2005, 10:36 PM
id say a mix of it all.

TheEnforcer

Depends on what type of crowd you're going for. If you're going for mass market a mix of all is best. Impulsively I chose rock and roll, especially if it's classic rock and roll, out of the choices given though I love the 60's-70's signer/songwriter hippy music as well like Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, etc. etc. but the mix IMHO would likely be best and net you the most listeners. I ave very eclectic tatses and like a bit of everything from classical to heavy metal.

The one thing I know I wouldn't do is an all hip hop or rap station because you will REALLY limit your audience to anyone under 30 for the most part and it will be a much younger audience.

In my truck I keep the xm radio on deep tracks most of the time...

Classic rock jams... Long Blues jams... Occasionally some losttreasures type stuff....

Gets me to work sane and gets me back to sanity when I'm on my way home...

Best of all, almost no talk :okthumb:

Wheres the other options? Give me some 'doof doof' dance/trance/techno music any day.

JoesHO
03-16-2005, 11:24 PM
I think if surfers are the target, or music for people to work too, then there should maybe be a channel with each one available for them to pick themselves, as sometimes peoples mood changes from day to day..

and so many different people have such different likes and dislikes.

Iam with you there man, especially if i am in the gym, or trying to acomplish a lot that day then the faster beat makes me move

but if it is a thinking day then classic rock or even some Jazz is better

you see what I mean about my above point?

The Doors - played very loud and only live recordings - their studio sessions were weak in comparison.

And The Daly-Wilson Big Band - an Australian group long gone but it you can find one of their tracks floating around turn the volume way up and let them blow your brains out :)

I must dig out one of their LP's and introduce the neighbours to some great music :rokk:

The masses don't truly appreciate Johnny Cash. That was true country music. It encompassed an ideal...a mentality; whiskey drinking and ass kicking.

There are only a handful of other artists that stay so true to their roots that they'd raise chickens in their tour bus. Cash was a fucking Deity.

The rest of these lists make me nauseous.

If Andrew Wood never OD'ed there would have never been a Pearl Jam

and the world of music would be a better place for it

so much shit I heard of the radio sounds like 10 was the only recording they ever owned, I can't tell most new bands apart - much of it sounds like recycled Pearl Jam - which wasn't that good to start with

You people actually listen to this shit?

If you listen to it, please tell me you steal it - please. Paying for this stuff drops you below rodents. Fuck...you're all hopeless. Anyone that would mention creed, REO...I'm not even gonna say it. I bet you buy yer clothes based on whatever commercial you see the most.

Simon and Garfunkel...people should just die. Your brains would malfunction if you had to listen to Segovia's Nocturno or the Dead Kennedy's Holiday In Cambodia.
Too Drunk to Fuck

and I'll step out of the REO closet just for the studio version of Riding the Storm out - not great but listenable

I'll also step out for a few Steely Dan tunes - My Old School comes to mind

Shamefully I'll admit I'm going to see LA Guns (for about the 8th time) in a local club at the end of March[/b][/quote]
An absolute classic tune...one that will live on.

Certain things can be understood. I blare Cyndi Lauper, Tears For Fears, & INXS at times...that's when I'm totally 80'ing out.

Glam rock was a high point - it was David Bowie on roids...there's no shame in being an LA guns fan. I dig T-Rex myself.

The Ramones sucked - sorry...but it's the truth. Rational people can't do punk...won't work.

My normal guide for music is if you've heard it on the radio, it fucking blows.
(the exception being the rare Satriani tune that rock radio adopts as "rock")

fucking morons. anyway, without being ascerbic, your tastes are "consumer
grade" which is ok for consumers.

Ok everyone, make a sheep noise.

:D
