Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has separated from his wife Teresa after 17 years of marriage.
The US heavy metal singer, who is the father of Lord of the Rings actress Liv Tyler from a previous relationship, has two teenage children with his wife.
He was previously married to actress Cyrinda Fox with whom he has a 26-year-old daughter, model Mia Tyler.
The singer, 56, said: "We are just a family trying to work through a difficult time."
"A little privacy and sensitivity - for Teresa, my children and myself - would be nice," he added.
Aerosmith had their first US number one in September 1998 with ballad I Don't Want To Miss A Thing, from the soundtrack of the film Armageddon and other hits include Dude (Looks like a Lady) and Walk This Way.
