Definitely a great band no doubt. I think you have to be from a northern city and over 35 years old to appreciate them though. I saw em in concert in 2002 and their sound hadn't altered a bit from the record version of 20 - 30 years earlier.

Exit Stage Left is my favourite live album of all time. :D

Geddy's probably the best musician of the three. That Rickenbacker bass sound just growls at ya, and Geddy can make it talk.

Neil's percussion skill is exceptional and probably the busiest drummer I've heard.

Alex is a cool too.

YYZ is playing on my CD system right now!!! :)

There's a local tribute band Yellow Brick Road that does 70's and 80's classic rock covers and they also do an amazing Rush tribute show...the signer of YBR sounds exactly Geddy Lee when he sings "Tom Sawyer" (my favorite Rush song).

Anyone who's in town when they are playing (they play at Railroad Station on Boulder Highway) needs to see their show (if you're into that type of music).

I would have to go with Led Zepellin for greatest band ever. They just really showed what it was to be a rock band. Plus their music doesn't suck. :)

I love Rush too though. Saw them a couple years ago and it was by far one of the most energetic shows I have ever seen. Neil Pert was unreal.

Okay, the subject of Rush has come up on Oprano... yee haaaa!

Let me start by saying that in high school I played guitar, my friend Paolo played drums, and Pete was an awesome bass player. Can you say, jam session? All we played was Rush... LOL

Throughout high school and college, all we listened to was Rush. There was no other band. I have no idea about 80's music that was so popular, unless it was Rush. hahaha

I have seen them 19 times in concert.

Not 15 minutes ago I was on the phone with one of my friends I've known since I was 11 years old. We were reminiscing about the old days, and told me that he recently took his 12 year old son to his first Rush concert.

And Vick, John Rutsey left the band to pursue a career in professional bodybuilding. It's okay though, because if he had stayed Rush would have been a one hit wonder. Peart got them on the right track... :awinky:

I love Rush. One of my all time favorites... yeah... definitely an all time favorite...

PD, you're right on that one.

I dropped acid and saw the 2112 concert in college. I think I may have pee'd on some peple, but at the time didn't notiice. ;)

Music today is just too boilermaker and or contrved.

Deep Purple's last CD fukkin rox. I blew up a very expensive amp on that one.

Whatever get's ya movin' is cool.

I agree with you, Vick ... but I tend to prefer the early stuff that people do over the stuff they do when they get more established.

The few performers that remain "fresh" throughout their entire careers usually remake themselves over again. Sinatra did it, Bob Dylan pulled it off for years, and the friggin' Stones are still doing it.

RUSH is indeed a classic band. Moving Pictures was all the rage when I was in high school. They were the best band going when that recording came out.

One of my faves from them however is, "The Working Man"... great song.

What can this strange device be?
When I touch it, it gives forth a sound
It's got wires that vibrate and give music
What can this thing be that I found?

See how it sings like a sad heart
And joyously screams out its pain
Sounds that build high like a mountain
Or notes that fall gently like rain

I can't wait to share this new wonder
The people will all see its light
Let them all make their own music
The Priests praise my name on this night
