I don't really understand how RSS works. I always hear about it and I know it's XML but that's about the extent. :(

I ll post a tutorial this week for Oprano Exclusivly and go into depth about it.

You all should capitalize on the new yahoo video searxh that requires a RSS feed.

i bet google will soon follow.......... :rokk:

From what I understand Google's is in Beta now but will closely resemble the one Yahoo has out now.

I think the XML is all it's supposed to show. I am no pro at all though but everytime I click on an RSS link on a blog or whatever, I always just get the source code.

Am I ready for it?

muhuahahhaha

I've had my nose in databases, xml, rss and the like for a while now....

This is one area the adult web is way behind mainstream on since it requires a bit of coding skill. Imagine the potential if the same technology were applied to, oh say, supplying FHG feeds to TGP's?

For those of you interested in background of things ..

First check out the articles at Mainstream Webmasters in the "Syndication / Blogs" section of the Articles, Topics menu.

Begin with Syndicate Your Headlines Using RSS (http://www.mainstreamwebmasters.com/article195.html) and go thru the others there. Then go up the next level with Audio Embedding with the article What is Podcasting? (http://www.mainstreamwebmasters.com/article348.html)

When you're through with those, you'll be ready for the latest level, Juicy and Video Embedding RSS.

I'd love that too Juicy. If you don't mind :) dravyk at allofem.com Thanks!

Parsing an XML feed is not rocket science. Now mind you, I can't do it, but after all these years I still have no clue how to install a Perl script that works.

XML is good.

All you need is an XML page and then register the file on My Yahoo. They have instructions there and I believe an example.

Also be sure to grab the link on the HELP page for Yahoo to refresh your feed. I've noticed that if you create an XML file, properly formatted you can make it a virtual site map ... Yahoo will then index your entire site into it's directory. (I got my entire site, essentially, indexed by Yahoo a full month before Google this way).

Here's an example of a working RSS feed XML file:

German Cam Sites

In an effort to bring you adult webcam sites from around the world, we've started with a list of Germany-based video chat sites. Soon we'll be adding links to other European and Asian cam sites. Stay tuned!

For each page/item, etc. just enclose in the
tags as above.

Then register at My Yahoo (if you don't have a Yahoo account, make one first.)

Visit your My Yahoo home page and then click on the Add Content link (I believe in the upper left of the top navigation). From Add Content page click on the small "Add RSS by URL" link beside the Find Content search field (top of the page).

Type the URL to your XML/RSS file you created and FTPed to your site (eg http://www.mydomain.com/myrss.xml)

After all that, bookmark this address (replace my domain with yours!) and everytime you add an entry to the RSS/XML file - and upload to the site - visit this link. It will give a short text msg indicating your file has been queued for a refresh.

http://api.my.yahoo.com/rss/ping?u=http://...at-reviews.com/ (http://api.my.yahoo.com/rss/ping?u=http://www.adult-video-chat-reviews.com/)

Now, go back to your My Yahoo home page and in the lower right you should see your own feed as a news item (assuming you have an update in the last 3 days).

If that doesn't work, try looking at:
http://my.yahoo.com/s/faq/rss/publishers.html
It's an FAQ about how to add your feed.

That's it, pretty easy and takes a minute to add a new entry to your file!

Any questions or problems, feel free to hit me up.

Anyone needs help figuring out the rss feeds, let me know. I have 147 or so feeds that I have been pulling in for over a year at http://www.bntnews.com

I am running a custom parsing routine that I put together which could be translated over to php pretty easy.
