At LEAST 2. I have 4 on the bed, but the dogs tend to hog the other two.

And they must be feather pillows.

Seriously that's all she does all day, lays on the beds and puts her head on pillows! She is the must 'human like' dog I have evr had, smart as hell and dumb as shit BOTH at the same time B)

I voted for 2, always 2 pillowss the top one folded in half (does that count as 3?)

Two words. Harry. Harlow. [/b][/quote]
"In Harlow's initial experiments, infant monkeys were separated from their mothers at six to twelve hours after birth and were raised instead with substitute or "surrogate" mothers made either of heavy wire mesh or of wood covered with cloth. Both mothers were the same size, but the wire mother had no soft surfaces while the other mother was cuddly – covered with foam rubber and soft terry cloth. Both mothers were also warmed by an electric light placed inside them.

In one experiment both types of surrogates were present in the cage, but only one was equipped with a nipple from which the infant could nurse. Some infants received nourishment from the wire mother, and others were fed from the cloth mother. Even when the wire mother was the source of nourishment (and a source of warmth provided by the electric light), the infant monkey spent a greater amount of time clinging to the cloth surrogate. These results led researchers to believe the need for closeness and affection goes deeper than a need for warmth.

These monkeys raised by the dummy mothers engaged in strange behavioral patterns later in their adult life. Some sat clutching themselves, rocking constantly back and forth; a stereotypical behavior pattern for excessive and misdirected aggression. Normal sexual behaviors were replaced my misdirected and atypical patterns: isolate females ignored approaching normal males, while isolate males made inaccurate attempts to copulate with normal females. I sleep in between a pillow samwich. I lay on one and put one over my head...It falls off and on to the floor. Sometimes I pick the pillow up and and hug it.

2, for the bottom I have a regular pillow that is stuffed pretty tight with fillin'. The top one is a down pillow that is not very supportive. Put em together and they work very well.

My girlfriend has cool memory foam weird shaped ones that are nice. I was going to order some but since she's leaving in a month I will take em, along with her memory foam bed which is uber comfy and helps my whacky backy.

3 pillows I use for my head and 1 body pilow.

I have two long, flat pillows I overlap so when I turn either way I'm still on a pilow and one shorter, flat pillow i fold up to initially put my head on.

I watch a movie or tv nearly every night before bed so I gotta be comfy while doing so!!

I recently bought a couple of Tempur Pedic pillows, and I am hooked. I only use one at a time though, very comfy... :okthumb:

Are those the ones where they show them putting a hand down on it and the hand sticks? The thing I worry about those is that I'm scruncher of pillows. :(

I'm thinking of getting CT one of the mattress pads once he gets to Japan. His back has been bothering him and I'm sure it's due to the crappy military mattresses.

Peaches, you sink right into the pillows, but they seem to know just when to stop. :awinky:

I also have a mattress pad and it's very comfortable... I highly recommend it.

I've got loads of down pillows on my bed and in the guest bedroom. I also have a feather bed in the guest room (wool/silk pillowtop in my room). Really nice sheets in both rooms too. I figure if you sleep anything close to 1/3 of your life, you damn well want to sleep the best you can ;)

My guest room has a cheap (but new and clean) mattress, not incredible sheets and Target pillows. I don't want anyone getting too comfortable and wanting to stay awhile :)

I have 2 that I wish I didn't have.... I need someone to break them in for me:-)

I am used to down pillows & mattress cover. They are two hard - they don't sink enough.

That's what worries me. My pillows are down too and I scrunch them up to sleep on them. I get ticked at the hotel pillows that don't scrunch well and take my one when I drive somewhere. Based on what you're saying, I think I'll stay with my pillows.

I have five on my bed...three for me, and two in the hope that one day there may be a man in there!

The three for me are:

one very flat one, essentially half a pillow...that's on the bottom.
one regular one, that's on the top.
and one more regular one, for snuggling...so that I keep in practice should I ever again have a man in my bed!

:P

Ok, first off, one word: overstock

http://www.overstock.com -- excellent deals on bedding....

A new pillow for me arrived today from them as a matter of a fact. I had one in the Pharoah Suite in Vegas that I really slept well on and ordered one that matched it.

Short answer, I sleep on one pillow, but have at least 2-3 on the bed typically as I roll around.

I have a big fat head and like to sleep on my side, so i need a thick pillow, but i like it soft. Basically means I spend a fortune when I buy a pillow.

Have tried the Tempurpedic and slept on it for a long time, but because I'm a side sleeper and occasionally do things like stay up 24-30 hours then crash for 10-12, I occasionally slept so hard on that thing that it would push back against my eye for prolonged periods of time and almost black it. If you're a back sleeper though, that thing is the cat's ass.

I've turned metrosexual toward bedding as I've aged. I like the high thread counts on sheets, goose down, etc. Again, thanks goodness for overstock.

I just fricken knew this conversation would get to talking about thread counts!! <_<

Let me know when over 1000 words are spent on talk of potpourri, wicker accents and making one's own doilies so I can officially crack my head open to relieve the pressure. :headwall:

I have 3 body pillows, 3 flat pillows, and 2 firm and fluffy pillows
4 feather beds, and down comforter, always have jersey sheets on my bed.

Its my time for complete princess it out.

Not much I can't do - change tires, re roof my house, yes I know when and how to use a bisquit joiner, so giving myself a pretty bed that is fit for a princesses - priceless.

I'd like to say the pillows are for guests but I don't share my bed well - so you have to extra special to get an invite to actually sleep in my bed.

HP, I start out on my back, so the tempur pedic is fantastic. I usually end up on my side though, but lucky for me no black eyes yet. ;)

And Drav, I hate to say it but I'm with HP on thread counts as well. As a single man I feel a little self concious knowing about thread counts, scarf valances, and the like, but if I don't buy them nobody will, so I have to know what I'm looking for. LOL

I remember one time I was in the bedding section at Bed Bath and Beyond, and this guy was walking around with his girlfriend. He looked like a six year old kid getting dragged around when it was obvious he would rather be over at Home Depot. The girlfriend kept asking him what he liked and he was all "I don't know babe, whatever the hell you want..." I chuckled, and they looked over at me. I said "hey, lucky for you she's picking out the stuff. I don't know what the hell I'm looking for, but if I don't figure it out I'll be sleeping on a mattress with no sheets."

Payback's a bitch though... recently I was in Home Depot and this guy and his girlfriend came into the same area I was in, and he had NO clue what the hell he was looking for. He had a weed eater spool with him and the strings were sticking out about two feet. I chuckled as always, and he said "okay, so I'm not handy..." I helped them find what they were looking for, and by the time we were through his girlfriend was all smiles and giving me the eye... Imagine if she knew how much I know about thread counts and scarf valances! hahaha

Damn, I don't even know what the hell a scarf valance is. Then again I have no window treatments at all.

I was paying attention last night and not only do I sleep on my side (right side 90% of the time) but I usually have one hand under the top pillow so the temporpedic things wouldn't work for me. :(

And I LOVE big fluffy blankets but even my big front loader can't wash them and since I have to wash all my bedding at least once a week (dogs), instead I have to load up several blankets and quilts. And my down comforter sits unusable in the closet :(
