Actually its really easy to do :)

You can pick up some basic scripts over at hotscripts.com for less than a grand :)

Yup, you gotta offer a hook that the current big boys do not.

And dont underestimate how much horsepower it takes to spider even a portion of the web.

You'll also need some very clever algorithms to sort out the spam and return the truly relevant results. The cheap canned stuff out on hotscripts is easily spammed to the point of being worthless.

I built my own of sorts. Whenever I lose the remote I say , "Son go find me the remote". Usually he returns with the correct result. Sometimes though I get a glass or my shoes. He is only 9. I just delete it and try my search again.
