I have been known to be a Soap opera junky. :)

I was hooked on General Hospital and Young & The Restless at one point. I would duck work after lunch to go home and watch it. Lucky for me there was the methadone clinic. :yowsa:

I'll watch drama/soapy style shows if they are really good. Desperate Housewives is campy and over the top but done in an interesting way.

One of my favorite tv shows I used to watch every week wa Party of Five when it was on. Damn good tv show and I have the 1st season on DVD. I'm pissed that it looks like the aren't gonna release the rest of the seasons.

I don't know what days they are on, but here's a rough estimate on what's showcased on TiVo:

Nip/Tuck
Shield
24
NYPD Blue
Third Watch
Sopranos (if they are ever on again.....)

Thank goodness for TiVo so at least I'm not wasting time watching the commercials.

TiVo has gotten me watching more TV than I used to....

The Osbournes (yes I *am* the one still watching)
Six Feet Under (when it's on)
Sopranos (when it's on)
Carnivale (when it's on - loving it so far BTW)
Life as We Know It (my kids got me hooked on this)
ER (still the die-hard fan even though almost everyone is gone/going)
Will & Grace (my guilty pleasure show)

and.... I'll admit I love American Idol - we even voted last year. *hides in shame*

My fave is still the bad singers on the initial auditions.... but I do like the competition part - anyone know of a 12-step program for this? It's embarassing!

<_<

We also watch a lot of Discovery Channel, History Channel, Animal Planet and Food Network (love that Alton Brown!).... and hub has a thing for that surgery channel... unfortunately he always wants to watch it or those crime scene autopsies during dinner. Ick!

There's a lot of stuff I'll watch for background noise, including anything from The Simpsons to old re-runs of The Munsters and just about anything on The History Channel, TLC or any of the Discovery channels.

The things I'll actually make it a point not to miss and get violent if anyone interrupts me while I've turned the lights out to watch is a much much shorter list. Off the top of my head:

--pretty much whatever HBO is showing on Sunday night, although Six Feet Under has totally jumped the shark and I bailed on his after about 4 episodes of the most recent season. Sopranos, Carnivale, Deadwood, The Wire are all good. I fear The Wire wont be back either though, requires a longer attention span than the average TV viewer has these days and didn't draw good ratings despite being one of the best dramas on TV.

--The Shield

--I'll give the new Battlestar Galactica a chance

--Rescue Me almost has me hooked

History and physics books.. some good fiction, Neal Stephensons first two books of his trilogy. you'd dig him, i have a feeling. He wrote the book Cryptonomicon. If you are on a history kick, with a big touch of technology, check him out for some decent reading.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-h...8018223-4047957 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index%3Dblended%26field-keywords%3Dneal%252520stephenson%26store-name%3Dall-product-search/104-8018223-4047957)

I am waiting on The System of the World. The Baroque cycle will do it with you as stephenson is a stickjler for accuracy in history, blending real charachters in with his made up ones. Cryptonomicon was his best work thus far for me.

Also have "The Rule of Four" open. As interesting as the DaVinci code, but slower moving and more detailed

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/038...8018223-4047957 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0385337116/qid=1106108486/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/104-8018223-4047957)

Also, Cocaine: and unauthorized biography... interesting read.

That and rereading Stephen Kings the Dark Tower series as the rest of it is finally out. 5 years later!. so i had to go back to the Gunslinger and reread the first 4. but it is an interesting departure for the author, and i forgot enough of it so it is pretty good:)

Finished IBM and the Holocaust by Edwin black, just got his latest book, "The war against the week" Its about Eugenics.. from a cursory glance it looks like a good read. i went ahead and ordered The Transfer request by the same author.

here is the amazon link to IBM..

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/060...8018223-4047957 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0609607995/qid=1106108927/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/104-8018223-4047957)

as far as other crap goes. Quantum theory, Cosmology stuff to Probablity and Determination.. you know Occam's Razor to Scrodinger's Cat, and everything in between. I love the net!:)

I purposely end up missing out on a lot of good shows. Yep, even go out of way to miss them. Every new one I add is another hour lost, maybe interestingly and entertainly lost.

Yes, probably would be good if I revced up the DVD recorder or got TIVO or something so I could watch them at my quiet time, I know. Just seems like too much trouble.

Oh Jeeze... General Hospital was big when I was in college. Robert Scorpio, Sean Donnelly, Felicia & Frisco and the TREASURE.

One time a few years ago I was home sick from work and I caught GH. I hadn't seen it in ten years and it seemed like only ten minutes had passed in the show's timeline. hahaha
