What should I use as a mascot for my site, UGLY SOB.com? I was thinking of a guy with a paper bag on his head with holes cut out for the eyes.

Think you got your own answer. Get a talented guy who does logos to make up his own unique "creature/guy" for you.

I did that once and he wasn't so creative. Designers are not always the best people for branding. Since that mistake, I always decide first what I want before I give it to a designer.

I'm probably going to do that, but first I wanted to decide on what the mascot should be. Still in that brainstorm phase.
