No there are the real deal, Region3 discs from China. So you need a region free player to use them. The movie was released on DVD there before it ever came to the states. Same thing for most asian films like the Jet Li movie a few months back 'Hero' .. and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon a few years ago.

Takeshi Kitano does amazing work as a triple threat...
Zatoichi rules....and so does my region-free DVD player ;-)

Peaches, we're pretty close in our ubermoviegeekness...hehehe

Here's where I get mine.
HK Flix (http://www.hkflix.com)
Had Jet Li's "Hero" LONG before it hit U.S. theaters. I highly recommend the origional Chinese (unmolested by Miriamax) version. Powerful and beautiful.

I am going to try to see Flying Daggers later.

I loved that Ziotachi (sp) film.
