Yeah....Collateral. Its a great script, fab cinematography....but the really interesting thing is it shot totally in high def electronic pictures. The death of film is nigh.

Napoleon Dynamite was my favorite movie of the year, but it isn't for everyone. If you love Wes Anderson movie (The Royal Tennenbaums, Bottle Rocket, Life Aquatic, etc.) you'll really like this movie because it have a similar feel to Anderson's movies.
Collateral was a great movie and much better than I thought it would be. I thought Jamie Foxx matched Tom Cruise in the acting department.
I didn't care for the Manchurian Candidate remake, but probably only because I loved the original so much.
rhymer, yup, digital filmmaking is taking over, but I don't think film will ever die, at least not in the near future.

I am home with the flu and am powering through flicks at the moment. Just watched Romeo is Bleeding for the first time tin ten years. Wow. A desert island film for me.
If you haven't seen it, it is a descent into hell pictutre. No Hollywood ending here.
Gary Oldman and Lena Olen.

You are probably right. I have been predicting the death of film for 15 years. But I have only ever shot video. It is dead in the still picture market though.

yeah, Hollywood, as a whole, is slow in adapting new technologies.
I read an interesting article in the current issue of DV magazine about Francis Ford Coppola predicting the death of film in Cannes in the 80's and how his daughter, who was in attendance as a child, went on to shoot on film.
I think it's a great medimum for indy filmmakers who can't afford the higher post-production costs associated with film.

I just bought a 1080i sony camera for four grand. it looks great. It will probably last me about six or seven months until something better comes along, but it is the first entry level high def out there. You could do cheap productions with this for sure. It lookds amazing. If anyone is shooting video, now is the time to give your stuff some legs.

Flashy Statement:
My daughter was in a film by Francis Ford Coppola once.
Truthful Explanation:
The Kids club aboard the QE2 orgainised a little playlet for the kids to perform for their parents on the final night.
FFC was also onboard and of course he made a home video of it.

You know, Nick, I have been hearing this same thing over and over for years. I sincerely doubt that that is true otherwise he would stinking rich already. However, if it is, it matters not to me. But I am still not sure exactly what it is he does. It was a fair question. I have yet to fathom why folks think I am a pauper on these boards. This is a position that a few might want to reconsider. BTW, I am doing my best to be nice. But Grimm is pushing buttons.

In this latest incarnation you HAVE been nice , and I have enjoyed your company on the board and treated you as I have found you.
However , in all honesty , you do have about 300 wanker posts in your previous incarnation.
As for Grimm's wealth , alledged or not.
I KNOW categorically he turned down a firm and real offer of One Million Dollars CASH for a website.
I would assume being able to turn down that amount of money would infer wealth?

In today's world, that would infer a pretty good upper middle class existence. I am really not trying to be argumentative, but people on these boards seem to have a very skewed idea of wealth. It might be money in Cleveland, but its a studio flat in Monte Carlo. It all depends to what you aspire. I have been around long enough and have lived a pretty wealthy existence in my time. I live a modest but very sucessful and happy lifestyle at the moment. A million dollar website is just an asset. That is only a bungalow in West Van.
Edit: to be fair, a lot of those "wanker" posts were in response to complete misquotes and out and out lies. When you are swarmed, you react.

Grimm I can't accurately assess how much money you have, as well as I like to believe I can assess the knowledge , reputation and integrity you have.
The latter I'd hazard to guess will ALWAYS outstrip the former.

Garden State
Bourne Supremacy
We don't live here anymore
Last Samurai
are also on the menu.
I have Garden State here, but haven't watched it yet....I'll probably go watch it in a few minutes
I didn't care for Bourne Supremacy, but it was ok
The Last Samurai was excellent except the stupid ending...god how I loathed the ending...

Zach Braff kills me on Scrubs, and Natalie Portman is definitely a hottie (the only reason I sat through the torture that was "Closer") and have heard nothing but good about the movie

rhymer,
I would guess grimm makes more this month than you will this year.
And has the distinct possibility of becoming wealthy.
Just a guess mind..
Not a piss , just correcting a gap in your knowledge :)
But Grimm is pushing buttons.
and ahem, you still havent asked the PERTENANT questions, you nimwhit, what do I have to do whack you upside the head?
Sure kid. Worth? Well, I suppose that is subjective. Money? Now that is easier. Accomplishments? Well, I would bet you still have a few of those hills to climb, but I could be wrong. Pushing buttons would not be one of them. Nick and Peaches speak highly of you for your wealth. See my second point.

When you are swarmed, you react.
why do you care, i dont care what your wealth is....
something to offer is not money.. there is gobs of money to be had by the nmembers of this board..
my question was, what is your worth... your worth to the human race. i know mine, how 'bout you?
I know mine as well, and am proud of my accomplishments. I hope you are as well. Porn, IHMO, is a very minor accomplishment. Its a living. I would assume you have a wealth of history that does not just involve making money. Then I would tip my hat to you, for sure.

not really just fucking with ya...

I liked hoim answering the phone and talking to "Ash" etc...nice inside jokes. And his roommate stole the movie.
as for....
Napoleon Dynamite,
My Review.
What a pile of vacuous ass! If to be considered a "cool" and "great" filmaker nowadays you need an ensemble cast that acts worse than the 10 yr olds that pereformed in my daughter's Christmas play, they succeeded.
The lead character had the warmth and charm of a Parisian urinal and as much humour.
It was poorly acted , written it seems by a retard and directed by someone more under the influence of pharma than the Netpond crew of 1998 -2001 was.
Total unadulterated shit.
I didn't mind I,robot in the least , picked up a few of the inside jokes , and thoroughly enjoyed the special effects.
As for "Two Brothers" well compared to Nap Bon its a fucking classic!!!
Anything with Tigers and especially cubs pleased no end the gathered 6mth old , 6 ,10,11 yr olds and the guy that used to be in Neighbours at least got the wife saying things like "Oh , he's aged well"
(In her language thats the equivelent of me saying "Holy fuck look at the ass on that")
The ending left the tearful children with a smile on their faces and thus it was good wholesome family entertainment.

Hmm - not exactly a glowing review :(
I'll still at least attempt to watch it and give it a chance. But it will probably be put at the bottom of the pile for a bit. Actually CT told me he bought it for an absurdly low price so I may return my copy to Netflix and watch his.
