So what do you think it would go for?

JoesHO

500 - 600 installments

Rule of thumb..

top money is 10 times monthly gross on a TGP.

Therefore I say under 300k

I agreed initially, but then I took a look to see where he's at on Sextracker. That sites pulling 350K uniques a day.

Even allowing for it being nasty assed traffic, he should have a gross of between $500-750K per year at that level depending on how clever he is with the filtering and ability to milk every penny out of that traffic.

With that said, I still think it's a buyers market for anything in adult right now. It's hard to consider paying even 6 months revenue when you have no idea if the current business models will be functional in 6 months due to processing. I'd guess he got a nice chunk of cash up front, but has the rest of it coming on installments with some contingencies.

so round the 300 -350k mark then.

With the uncertain future even at that levle of traffic and well filtered thats all its worth.

This is one of those threads where I'd love to know what Shemp thinks....

I figure he's either laughing his ass off at us, or nodding in agreement......I'd be curious to know which.

I know a few 100k/day tgp owners who would very happilly sell their sites for $120k outright

(which is 10 times what their monthly earnings should be working on your low figure of 500k/pa from thumbzilla on 350k/day uniques.)

(people I am thinking of you could nab for 20-30k at a guess)

The 500k/pa values thumbzilla at $416,000 on Nick's rule btw... I'd be betting on something closer to half that for an all dollars up front deal. (I hope it turns out to be 1 Million if we ever find out though)

I based my guestimate of income on figuring you should be able to do between 1:5000 and 1:10,000 conversions worst case. The owner should be able to do MUCH better than those just submitting galleries as he can fleece the newbies as they come thru the front door before they even get to the galleries.

What do you think Lars paid for Lensman, "Cams.com" this week? Lars said you could buy a house...well hell, if thats the case, that was $60K..LOL...

I think he paid 350k?

Wonder what Lens paid for GFY.COM?

Can you tell wondering is a hobby for me? *smirk*

Sorry HP , I'd be surprised if someone paid that.

As Opti said:

The rule of thumb is a great measurement and that is TOP money.

Also in these times as he said , I reckon someone sits down with some TGP owners and say "This is the number I am prepared to wire , today , take it or leave it"

Most would take it.

And it would be much lower than 10 times monthly gross.

Maybe as low as 5/6 mths if all cash , and right fucking now.

Oh, I agree, I think Shap would be out of his mind if he paid more than $100K or so in cash regardless of income. The game is simply changing too fast to make a much larger investment.

Also, if a successful business is sold during a time when it's a buyer's market, there's usually something motivating the seller. There are likely factors we're not aware of which might've presented a bargain.

For instance, I've found that when the April 15th tax deadline looms, one can often pick up bargains in this industry. :awinky: You also see a lot of year end deals for similar reasons.

Alexa is worthless for anything other than seeing if there's history or whether or someone has just jacked up the numbers in the short term for some reason.

Sextracker is useful if it's loaded, and it usually is on the larger TGP's as they like to show off the numbers.

Balance that with some submissions of your own and you can make a pretty good interpolation about whose the largest. High numbers of clicks and page views isn't necessarily what you want as that can mean they have greedy bookmarkers who come in every single day look at all of the free nekkid pics and never click thru to a god damned thing. High numbers of uniques is much stronger, that's what impressed me about Thumbzilla's traffic.

Anyhoo....top 3 are easy to figure out:

The Hun
Worldsex
AL-4A

It's a good drop from there down to number 4.

Some others that would almost certainly be in the top 20....

affiliate program joins.. mostly PPS.

Seriously, do you think someone would buy it outright for a price to make it worthwhile for the owner and buyer?

Hmmm.. yeah maybe.

But I don't like hesitating, must have something like ADD I think.. the site could be a bargain for someione more interested in building than partying in LV ;-)

It attracts 150-200 webmaster submissions per day. Has a couple of thousand backlinks according to google. Alexa says it is ranked at about 25,000.

No ballpark suggestion? Why are we all so sure we know what a TGP is worth but cant guess a figure for a linklist with a lot more info?

(thats a serious question too btw)

yeah me too re: 40k :\

The site "feeds" about 20 or 30 other quality domains that also make a modest income, so it would take a lot more to make it sensible to sell :(

Forget I asked... delusions of grandeur got me going when thinking about a TGP selling for 250k+ ;-))

Thumbzilla is a topend quality site as far as a TGP goes too.

JR

I would imagine that a TGP is no different than any other area of this business... if you have the brains and talent to take over a TGP like this, maintain it, maintain the revenue and then make it grow.. then you have the brains and talent to start it from scratch. I would not imagine that it sold for much given the fact that it can become worthless almost overnight. Its not like a brick and mortar business where you have tangible assets that are worth something.

I would guess that it would be worth much more to someone who is really ignorant of the business than to someone who really knows how to make it work, milk every penny out of it and to maintain and grow it. 350K uniques per day is not much. Many many many small guys own 5-10 tpg sites doing much more than this... and they would be lucky to sell what they have at all.
