Otherwise they are about as much use as a candy bar against a hacker to me.

For the newbs, I'd say maybe so. Other than that if it's not a real hot button issue, I'd be willing to bet that more than half this board's members could role play each panel member in their sleep to perfection.

But then again, what can you really say, over and over and over, on average of about every 3 months, with all the different shows that wouldn't be repetitive.

The problem is anyone with really good information knows better than to share it. It'll be found, reverse engineered and spammed to the point that no one can make a buck at it soon enough without teaching people how to do it.

Ok, let's "go there". Here is the unvarnished truth for those who can handle it. :) (Being Oprano, this is 99% of you, and you know this already!)

Whether it's resources, seminars, articles, you name it. No one is going to tell anyone everything. No one is going to tell everyone (en mass) all their secrets. Quite possibly none of their secrets. They will tell you a piece. They may leave out the integral 10% that is most important. Some will leave out 50% of what is important or more. Anyone who tells all is a total idiot. Now, that said ...

What seminars, resources, articles and the like do and will always do is give a hand. Maybe those reading or in attendance will come away with something. They may learn a little bit more than they knew before. They may come away learning tons of new information they never had before. It depends on their experience and on the speaker. (And yes, if they are enough of a veteran, they will probably come away learning not one damned thing!) That is the how "the game" is played. Pure and simple.

I will say this, I rarely listen to radio shows anymore, I rarely go to a seminar, etc. But, when I have, and yes this depends on the speaker, I have always walked away with one new piece of data or one new idea. Mind you, I'm selective. It needs to be a real professional in an area of expertise or I'm not there. When I go to something (workshop, seminar, radio show) then yes, I always have walked away with something. Again, you usually if you have a really good person speaking, a Mike Fold, a Bill PMB, et al. They will all leave at least one "clue" out of the bag, be it accidentally in talking or purposefully. Or if not a full clue, then enough of one that a veteran can fill in the rest of the pieces and go "Ah-ha!!!"

I normally go to one seminar a show... depending on who is speaking, and what the topic is.... as Drav said, there is something to be gleened from a good knowledgable speaker....
