It seems to me from what I understand. that internet porn was and has been controlled out of Austrailia in the begining

But now it seems as if toronto is the hub of the new wave players ?

what are the thoughts of the masters here on Oprano?

The Chinese are coming and they will dominate once they start figuring out how to get their porn payments sent to them.

But for now I would say the Canadians are unstoppable. The Aussie's have a lock on mail traffic though.

I beg to differ. They are already properly setup to dominate the mailing game. Once they figure out how to get paid from programs they will create more webmasters than anywhere imaginable.

Let's not talk about the many thousands of sites that will pop up with stolen content in the next 5 years. Try to prosecute them, har harr!

Chinese will always be behind - to be in the lead of the mail game in 2005 is a few years to late, building thousands of sites in 2010 will be several years too late...

There is no need to prosecute "the end of the foodchain criminal" - on the internet there is a supply chain, and everyone who sits in this will be targets. Also China do not like porn, and other "immoral" things:

China closes 1,129 porn web sites
(Xinhua)
Updated: 2004-12-22 23:05

China has closed 1,129 pornographic web sites since the nationwide crackdown began this July, according to Internet Society of China (ISC) here Wednesday.

Since the web site, www.china.cn was opened June 10 by the ISC, it has received 95,000 reports of pornographic and other illegal web sites.

The related departments have closed 1,278 illegal web sites and 114 sites promoting gambling, superstitious activities and cult propaganda according to the information provided by the informers.

With the closures, the on-line reports on the illegal web sites have declined to 17.4 percent from 67 percent when the crackdown began.

The government will now shift its focus to other illegal web sites including those for gambling and superstitious activities.

China's Ministry of Public Security rewarded a number of informers since China launched a nationwide campaign to crack down on the illegal on-line operations. Their information has also helped to uncover 254 criminal cases and capture 445 suspects.

Looks like the chinese goverment is looking for information :groucho:

I'm not sure any region has ever really dominated porn. In the late 90's there just happened to be a handful of really huge players who were from the land down under. There were even more players in the U.S.

One difference between now and then though is back then if you asked anyone to name the 5 largest adult programs, pretty much everyone would've named the same 5.

I dont think that's the case now. It's interesting, and almost defies economics. But although it is becoming tougher and tougher to run a successful affiliate program, the traffic is spread across a much greater number of them now.

Exactly, it was more how outspoken the big guys back then were and how successful they (actually) were, that and most of the innovative (dodgy) stuff came from the aussie companies, which garnered the whole 'australian porn mafia' myth.

Mention any of those names to newbies today and they wont know who they are.

Processing have been consolidating, so from that point of view it has been very predictable. I agree that the industry will not change so drastic that one part of the world will total dominate the other - this is the internet ;-)

True... was just talking with someone the other day who said, "you can't throw a rock in this industry and not hit a Canadian these days...." lol

I look @ all the PRs that come through for the site/mag and more than half I would say are Canadian-based.... with Florida and Arizona up there as well...

Either that or these people are just more "look at me, look at me" than the rest of the planet.

I agree to an extent with Pornwolf though...

If you reside in certain geographic areas..

You could:

a) spam til hell freezes over , no hinderence.
B) have rape and beast sites
c) steal all the content you need , no repurcussions
d) undercut everyone..

use that money wishly and badabing badaboom you are God!

errr anyone got a good travel agents?

Aussies, pale shadows of their former glory. Is anything or anyone that "strong" from Down Under anymore?

Yeah they are really out of it...

They don't mail anymore.
They don't own any programs
They have no listings in Search Engines.
They don't make a big song and dance at shows in Lobster suits
They don't roll through the shows with pornstars wearing T Shirts.
They don't drive round in convoys of highly privced and visable sports cars.

Yeah they are all dead and finished.

Oooooh! I like it! :yowsa:

You should see all the drivel I have to filter through each day.... this is a nice, refreshing alternative!

Not sure about "modest" - but then again it's hard to stay quiet when there are so many good things happening and so much potential brewing... wouldn't you agree? Just the tidbits and hints about things that Gonzo throws my way on ICQ have me riveted to the board for further announcements!

To clarify.... lest people think I'm ass-kissing here... this is the quote that I found the most refreshing. I am so sick of everyone claiming to be #1 - it's nice to see someone admit to - and embrace being - #2 for a change. Of course the little notation about WHY the other board is #1 just adds in a little fun prodding of one's competition - but isn't THAT refreshing over the let's-sing-kumba-ya-and-hold-hands mentality that we've been seeing a lot of over the last couple of years?

Europeans are making a HELL of a dent lately. This is going to only increase heavily in 2005 to the point where the top 20 will no doubt include several companies from there, a few we know about and a bunch that will seem like "where the hell did they come from?" And yes, I mean Europe as in from England to Russia.

Canadians always strong and coming out with more. Florida, Arizona and Southern California have to be considered the US meccas at this point. And still the leaders now and for the near future, but with others catching up and possibly passing some of them by soon if they don't watch it. (Europe, too spread out, no meccas.)

Aussies, pale shadows of their former glory. Is anything or anyone that "strong" from Down Under anymore? (Not talking about several super smart individuals, talking about power house affiliates of the Scott or General type programs.)
