Well , yeah , that was a sideline. ;-))\

Funnily enough ,..... which ties in with a post in an other thread.

I was successful in my previous career as a result of remaining loyal to my friends and being an honouirable man , and good for his word , to his friends and his family.

Oh...and by being a horrible litlle cunt to those that fuck me , my family or my friends.

I am that man again.Lost track of that for a while.

LOL

I actually did run a Casino op at school.

I was making 150 - 200pounds a week at 15 on that and other nefarious activities LOL

And that was a lot of money back then...especially for a 15yr old

Oh the other one that was a "right eanrer" was video games in pubs.

Oh my God we made a lot of money off that one.

"Here mate , put our machines in your pubs and we'll split the take with ya"

Literally made a fortune.

I was older then. It went hand in hand with:

"Nicks Public House Insurance Corp"

"You pay us XXX Pounds a week , we can ensure that your pub never has any accidents" ;-)))

"It'd be a terrible thing if a load of pikeys turned up every Friday and Saturday night and got pissed up and wrecked the place.Terrible"

Not to take a thing away from your targeting skills, KK, but with Nick just aim for the "dark" -- there's so much of it -- and you're bound to hit something. :groucho:

I flipped burgers. Then I came on the Net and worked at Netpond for $100 a month. Next? :)

... Oh, ok ... I flipped burgers briefly at the age of 16 at Roy Rogers. Prior to the Net was in Manhattan at a well-paying advertising publishing house with a nice flat in the Chelsea section.

CCBill was my first job after graduating ASU with finance degree in '99, started at the company when there were just a few people there, its bigger now...other than an internship at a brokerage firm and helping my father out in his business, i was green

Nick, i remember you from when you hosted with Cavecreek years back, i like the direction oprano is going, some great threads in the past few days...and i am still slowly learning how things work, and this board helps fill some of the voids

the kk story is great, i got the hour version at kona grill one night years back ;)

...it needs to be refreshed

My story? LOL, who do you think told him to turn the boxes off ;)

I was an interior designer immediately prior to adult, and even had that online furniture store a few years ahead of its time.

The story that Corvett is talking about takes awhile to tell, but the end result is that you learn some things you can apply anywhere in life, they just happen to fit the internet quite nicely.

First, the law of averages does work. You just have to have enough traffic, customers, eyeballs, whatever you call it, in order to get an average.

Second, get rid of the no's as fast as you can. They're one step closer to a yes with the next guy.

concert promoter, telemarketer, chef, mortician's intern (wanted to be a mortician, but found I just didn't have what it takes), entrepreneur (I learned the art of buying in bulk and reselling in 3rd grade with NFL football pencils), BizOp writer (I still see some of my work "borrowed" for ebooks and ebook sales pitches to this day), sales manager, custodial engineer (ok, a janitor/parking lot attendent), various food and publishing jobs...

Actually, what we did was to submit a webpage to 100 search engines -- which was really a few search engines and 90 "free for alls".

I spammed 10 million AOL email addresses to get the business started. This is back before I had even heard of the word spam. The code had a leak or something and I received a hurried call from my ISP that I had crashed their server. They made me promise to let them look at any code I used from now on. The fact that it was SPAM was not even any of their concern. Ahh, the golden old days.

Some of the people that responded were ISPs that wanted us to do submissions for all their clients.

A lot of the sites that were using our services were adult sites and so, well, that was that.

Spent 15+ years doing graphics/3d/video/project management/management roles for corporates and dabbling in various ventures here and there. None of the corporates really peaked my interest; I don't suffer fools easily and decided corporate was not for me.

It was seeing the same poor fuckers on the railway stations and airports, miserable and just waiting to die, hoping someone would take their pain and suffering away. Fuck that!

Working on doors before finding adult as way of a diversion and haven't looked back, i fucking love this industry.
