Firstly my thoughts...

I think :

1. Serge. - well he is not going anywhere. He won't leave. He has no hobbies ;-))
Me getting him onto Netpond MADE netpond.

2.Old School - this where everyone who actually knows about the game lurks.

3. Politics - usually a brisk political discussion.

Now gonzo and I of course want to expand and grow the place.
You wait and see what we have in store.
Mike will prolly announce something shortly.

But I am not going to GFY the fucking place.

So folks...what do YOU think ?

I miss RawAlex - maybe we can import some socialists from the other boards? (or buy them ;-) We need some political drama, where no one is giving in - no matter how far out their arguments are :)

there is already a GFY and 10,000 poor clones, so no need for it here...
there's already a place to chat about drinking and tunes amongst a couple buddies in DMPM

the reason I come here is because it isn't like the other places...I don't want to visit places where the conversations are the same every day and even often the same as other boards...

I stay loyal to NetPond and actually do enjoy posting/reading there (minus the nickle whores) and have a lot of friends there

GFY is a place I can let out my inner fratboy and act like an ass

Each place has their own flavor and that's the way it should be...otherwise it's gets boring as fuck

according to the sale contract..

you are entitled to post on this board "unfettered and unedited "

so you may discuss for example :

sex and travel
the parentage of the poster
his/her sexual preference
The sexual preference of any posters family members
the size of posters various anatomical features...

its what you want!!!

A place to party , with maid service included ;-)))

Gawd, I hate it when I have to get out of my grumpy, sarcastic mood and say something nice. Grrr. But here goes.

When I think of Oprano I think of Business and I think of Friends.

Now before Serge jumps in and explains again what is and isn't a friend to him. In this particular case I mean Friends in this particular case in the more wide term of everything from very good friends to "just plain" friends to close associates to distant assocates.

However, even if it's someone I have not previously done business with, or have not had very many conversations with in th past, even the most "remote" regular poster on Oprano (the ones we tend to think of as Da Family), tend to be someone who I have seen their name for years, they have seen mine for years, we have close shared experiences just by nature of all the years online. We greet each other like long lost friends at conventions, and they ARE people of honor that I most certainly WOULD definitely do business with (if I haven't already).

And there are few other boards if any at all, that I can say that about the great mass of regular posters, except for here.

2nd that... if I "know" you from Oprano, I want to know you in real life.

Kind of lost that feeling a little in recent months though.. hoping it comes back stronger with the sultans etc going on.

1 thing I would like to see come back... the days everyone posted links to other boards would be a good change for mine....

There was a time when I could come to Oprano and be pretty sure I would know about most important industry stuff and also any significant event or rumour or piss match that was going on anywhere else.. even if it wasn't spelt out, someone would post some cryptic comment and the info would pass about on icq... maybe I just dropped out of the loop, but it doesnt feel like that anymore.

Most boards seem to censor or frown upon posting links to other boards now... would be good if the opposite was encouraged here again

3rd on Dravyk's post... with some notable MIAs from the current mix,
the best of both YNot board and Netpond have ended up here at Oprano.
I don't do much business with anyone these days, but most of those
I would do business with, are here.

and BTW, Timon... THANK YOU! I have both known and have been repeating
that quote for YEARS, and had not known the original source. Has always been
a :pearl:

Hmmm... what do I think of when I hear Oprano...

Old school
old people ;-)
successful
grumpy
antagonistic
interesting
newsworthy
funny
no sugar coating
republican

But not all in that order ;-)

I lurk this board more than anything. If I hear a rumor over something important in the biz, I visit here to see what's being said about it. If some major drama happens (whether relevant or not to the biz) and I have a few minutes or care, I'll visit here. I'll add that Gonzo is one of the funniest guys I know in this biz and he speaks the truth.
