Now, if they blow up a major oil offloading point, or the oil workers in Saud go on strike, well, now you have potential issues that restrict availability of oil, and will (at least speculatively) drive the price of oil futures up.

And if a nuke drops on the white house the dollar will reduce to nothing.

What's your point? :)

Alex, why no mention of Oil?
That one's easy. Alex is working BACKWARDS from the premise that the American experiment has failed and that the US economy will plunge into a depression that it can't recover from anyday now. It is so rare that a nation's GDP is increasing, stock market is rising, unemployment is dropping, real wages are rising, currency is rising, inflation is in check, debt is in check and so on all at the same time that someone of such a mind will is always have ammunition.

Of course, the past seven decades have seen a large number of books, magazine articles and commentary on "The Coming Financial Earthquake" and "The Next Great Depression". Something always goes wrong with the analysis.

Serge, unlike some people, I have no need to wave my dick in the air and express how I am doing "in the market". To me that is just a pathetic boys game. What I do is between me, my broker, my accountant, and my one trusted advisor.

I have my investments, they do well, thank you very much. I am not a day trader, I am not sitting looking at the market 24 hours a day.

Timon, attacks on the US embassy will no impede the flow of oil, and does not have a very direct effect on the value of the US dollar.

Alex, don't hate the player, hate the game.

Who is waving their dick in the air, anyway? You make a lot of assumptions in this post followed by some real defensive statements.

I don't believe a word of it. LOL

Assume what you may. I will now assume I am not welcome in these discussions, and as seems to be the popular request, I will stop. DJ made the same request the other day, and I am starting to realize that nobody cares one shit about an opinion outside of their own pre-formed point of view.

It's been swell.

US Dollar is due for a bounce off support (see 3 previous bounces off support at 80 in the 1990's)

Wouldn't be surprised to see a bouce to the 96-100 region here. This would correspond with a 50% Fibonacci retracement of the drop from 120 to 80 AND also this area has proven to be a point of support/resistance in the past (see chart).

Any thoughts on where the dollar is going wig?

why do you assume that you are not to blame for peoples reaction to you and your remarks? you are so consistent with your "pre-formed point of view" which consists entirely of anti-american, anti-conservative, anti-bush posts, that people start calling you on it. in true Alex form... you once again decide to play the martyr, play the victem and rationalize it to mean that they are stupid and unreceptive of anothers opinion. does any of that sound familiar? hasn't this all been said before?

maybe it also has something to do with you?

just a thought

Monk,

I really have no price points as of yet (I actually do very little work on the currencies). I would have to see confirmation of an intervening low first - which I expect.

I think the area you laid out is worthy of note and that as we get closer other indicators will help hone in the most probable price point. I still believe the dollar goes lower into 2007-2008, but the first wave down is nearing completion.

How about today's action in the metals? I was wrong and early on my shorts there, but this could be the "B" wave high I was looking for.

JR, in politest terms possible, fuck off. The opinions of a keyboard warrior such as yourself mean absolutely nothing to me.

My comments are not welcome here, I understand that, and I will stop. That's all. What's so hard about that? Quit trying to read into thing stuff that isn't there.

... and yes, perhaps because my opinions don't match the majority of the group here, I could be an "asshole" from their point of view. Whatever.

Chances are gonzo won't get your email anyway cause of his spam filters being so high. You know the ones in place cause sad no life fucks spent years and years reporting people for spam , or gore sites or whatever it was that they couldn't actually do.
