Does anyone buy or read eBooks?

Fiction, non-fiction, business, whatever?

Just curious...

Nope. I'm old-fashioned as I still love going to the book store.

I tend to get a few every now and again .. great for train/plane journeys for the pda's. Mainly business orientated, other times fiction.

Seems to be more of a "mainstream" thang.

The one thing that pisses me off most about ebooks is that they always try to be like a book. Black text, white page. Maddox said it best when explaining the colour scheme on his website:

"I've chosen a black background for most of my text because it's easier on the eyes than staring at a white screen. Think about it: your monitor is not a piece of paper, no matter how hard you try to make it one. Staring at a white background while you read is like staring at a light bulb (don't believe me? Try turning off the lights next time you use a word processor). Would you stare at a light bulb for hours at a time? Not if you want to keep your vision."

I think it's okay for webpages really, but if you're going to spend an hour or two reading constantly, the inevitable white background is going to fuck your eyes up big time.

I can honestly say i have NEVER read an ebook [political or otherwise... and you said it wasnt political hehehe] i prefer the old fashioned going to Barnes + Nobles picking up the last 4 John Grisham books i havent read, reading through all of them in 7 days then going to Blockbuster Video and renting the movies with the same names lol
