I went to columbia for their production contest, my girlfriends short film was one of 5 films from production II to be put in the contest (out of 80 films).
She was the only girl out of any of the production 1 and 2 students to be nominated. She didn't win, but it was great to see her in the film maker environment, and it was really nice for her to be appreciated in that kind of audience, there were about 350 people there and lots of people were asking her questions and complimenting her (she is emphasizing editing, which you may or may not know, really does make the film)
her piece was a very stylized piece of editing and somewhat odd directing. hopefully i'll have it online soon, i'll have to get it from her and compress it, its a gig.
it was great seeing some of the other contestants too, some really funny stories and really ambitious directors. Rebeccas was the only one to break the boundries and be purely about style and editing, instead of over-drama or semi-slapstick, which a couple of the top ones were.
Anyway, you know me, I post some stuff going on in my life and thought i'd share how happy I am for my girlfriend. She abandoned her first short film which was kinda about her mothers death and was too hard on her, and still in a short time made a really interesting piece that was one of columbias top short films, so I'm pretty proud of her.
Nothing more to see here, hopefully I will have her film online within the next week.
