My brothers old roomate from U of I went to harvard for law school, has a new job starting at 150k in chicago, I took him out a bit ago (my brother got too drunk and passed out early) and showed him some chicks and bought him drinks and the guy really likes me. I asked him if I could have his legal advice over the next few years so I wouldn't have to pay out the ass to my previous lawyer.

He said no problem, call his cell whenever I need his advise, and anything big he can get his lawyer friends at the firm to help him with no problem.

And what is his specialty? Corporate law. Just goes to show, buddy up with the young and smart, show em a 300 dollar good time, and it can save you thousands. Buying that kid drinks and cab rides and club cover was one hell of an investment.

HAHAHAHAHA

For attorneys experience really counts.... I would not hire an attorney who has not been practicing for less then 10 years.

Does it worry anyone that what Attorneys and Doctors do is referred to as "practice" ?

indeed, hes not going to put his name on aything unless you are covered under his umbrella policy, w3hich means youd be in the firms records, which means that free legal advice aint gonna be so free when it comes to his partners

interesting points. first off, i'm pretty sure he's not gay. I got him some phone numbers for some pretty hot chicks.

second, that's a good point, he hasn't practiced outside his internship, but considering one of the top chicago firms wants him badly and paid him 10k a month just to intern, i'd say the boy has potential. these harvard lawyers are picked out before they've even fucked a girl in the ass.

better to get him now when I can than 10 yrs from now when he is a partner, makes 1 mill a year sallary and 3+ mill a year in stock.

the thing is, even if someone has been doing law for 10 yrs, doesn't mean they are any better than the just out of harvard lawyers. in fact, it often means they are worse, know less about newer laws, were never that great to begin with if they didnt make partner in a big firm, etc.

all in all, for most shit, i'm thinkin I made a pretty good pal in the law-talkin-biz.

That really would impress you, wouldn't it ... a designer label lawyer.

Could be a valuable connection, like Mike says - but I wouldn't use it as my legal counsel for anything of significance. His firm won't - everything he'll touch will be gone over three times before it gets to a client through a partner for the next three-five years.

I decided to let that one pass, CJ ... I spent the weekend listening to nieces and nephews argue about "why my toy is better than your toy", and just don't have the stomach for any more of it.
