I've been looking forward to this movie for a long time.

It doesn't say what region it's encoded in, but every movie buff should have one of these:

Region-free DVD player

JoBlo had a great review of the movie and his tastes tend to run fairly close to mine (although he doesn't seem to have as much love for Troma movies ;-)):

ahhh,,

You have to a dvd that you can change "regions" on.

I think its to cover distribution.

I had to get one to play DVDs from Britain that I couldn't find here.

It was a living hell , but that was a c ouple of years ago ,maybe they are easier to find now.

When movie studios distribute movies on they have different region encoding.

Example, there is one way of encoding them for distrubtion in the US, another for Germany, another for Asia, etc.

It sucks because a studio might release a movie with a ton of extras in Japan, yet release a barebones edition here in the US.

I order a lot of movies from yesasia.com and would get frustrated by them not having a copy in Region 1(North America) of a movie I really wanted, so I broke down and bought a region-free DVD player. The first one was garbage, but the second one has been great.

It's similar to the different encoding types for video cassettes. In North America, it's NTSC format while in Europe (and I think Asia) it's PAL format. Not sure of other countries, whether they are NTSC or PAL.

If you want a good region free DVD player, you can just mod your XBox... it does a fine job, from what I have been told.

ok, sorry :)
well, going to add that flick to my list...I was hoping Lion's Gate or New Line would pick it up for at least a brief theatrical run in the States...and they wonder why piracy is so rampant..the make it so hard to see good movies ;-)

yeah, I've heard stories of modded Xboxes and PS2's but decided to get a machine I could get my money back on if they sucked..amazingly the first company I bought my region-free from refunded me minus a 15% re-stocking fee.
