haha LOL the funny thing is when they refer to themselves as metro sexuals, and are always trying to look at gay porn....

it is rather funny to watch actually... ( probably not if I was gay though)

the funny part is not the substance of what they say, it is the irony in wich they say it LOL

Lee how do we do some business together?

I went to this show last year Nick
and went to the one in Atlanta this spring as well.
Both were good shows for me ( I like the small shows)

Hopefully some of the more mature will graduate from GFY and come over here eventually.

But I hardly post there.

I mean you could have the general or scottpb post advice there only to be drowned out by 5 guys who have never seen 10 joins in a days .

The wind of change is gonna blow through our industry soon and though the kids will still be there earning there beer money , new and greater things will be beyond there grasp.

No rant, but I'll pontificate....

GFY has evolved into a culture where everything revolves around the quantity of posts. It started with Lens giving away shirts for 1000 posts. More recently Sig Ho'ing is totally out of control. It's just totally obnoxious to see what is likely to be a good thread start and see people just blatently post "sig placement!" messages near the top.

Perhaps more remarkable is that high post counts are held in such high esteem that among the GFY crowd they carry status and a certain amount of celebrity. Reality is anyone who has that much time to spend on the boards, probably isn't spending much time doing actual work or business. Yet sponsors will invite them to their private parties and such due to their "fame" and then wonder why they dont see a lot of ROI or increased business after the show. But I guess there's entertainment value in a class clown kinda way.

The end result is a very high signal to noise ratio that makes the few nuggets that are there pretty much impossible to find.

It would be nice for some of the people over there who are actually looking to do a little business to find their way over. What I would not want to see come over is that post-whore culture.

I wasn't sure what to expect at Webmaster Access. What Hell Puppy posted was definitely on my mind. But I was pleasantly suprised. I got a ton of business done and met some very friendly faces. It was not the "GFY" whore-posting crowd I had expected but very business minded people from mostly companies we all know and do business with. I had a great time and 98% of the people I met were very professional and a pleasure to get to know.
