I guess the LA gangs have opened branches overseas. Drive by shooting kills top Iraq official.

Wonder if they made the gang signs too?

Alex,
how do you celebrate the problems of US?
Do you dance nekkid on the streets or just jerk it off on the boards?

This is truly disturbing ... I was about to ask a question very much like Serge's. :o

I just think it funny that the problems of the US and the problems of IRAQ have become so much more like each other...

It makes me think that Iraq is almost certainly approaching 100% american status. :)

It's not suppose to be funny. It's sad like you can't imagine.

Sad that poeple die that don't have to.

Sad that we learn new ways to kill each other each day.

Sad that the US's major export to Iraq has been death.

Funny, I am thinking the same thing about socialized medicine

OldJeff, I spent more than enough time in LA to know that drive by shootings are not that uncommon in some parts of the US. While they are not used on politicians (at least not yet), they are a part of US culture (see movies, books, TV shows, and yes, real life for some).

Socialized medicine still beats the crap out of people dying because they can't afford insurance. People keeping their kids in the house, not letting them out to play or to participate in group sports because they can't afford the doctor bill if they get injured.

Alas, different culture, different feelings.

Alex, what the heck are you talking about? Drive by shootings are VERY rare. They are hardly something that happens often.

NO ONE is dying because they can't afford insurance unless they're just too stupid to go to the hospital. My son played sports for 14 years and every single time we were offered insurance at a VERY low price (less than $20 for the season) for accidents which happened during the practice or sporting events. In addition, almost every single state offers low cost health insurance for kids under 18.

Alex,

Your form of bigotry is just as bad as all the rest. I think you slipped on the frozen tundra and cracked your skull.

Alex,

You are confusing an "inner city problem" with culture, it makes as much sense as saying - Genocide is part of the German culture because of the Holocaust.

Also you are obviously not as aware of the "health care" situation in the US as you think you are.

ALL sports program participants in the US are insured by the program running the sport, it is manditory.

Also NO hospital is allowed to deny treatment because of ability to pay.

And we also do not tell anyone they are too old to have a proceedure that would lengthen / better their lives.

Remeber I am all for bashing Bush along with you, but please keep it to relivent reality.

Oh and don't tell me what it is like to live in the US and be poor, I lived below the poverty line for about half of my life.

Peaches, your experiences with insurance do match those of other americans I have dealt with. Knowing that people live every day with no health coverage, with no way to pay for health care is scary.

As for drive-by's well, a quick trip to google turns up more listings than even I thought I would find:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/817130.stm

Remember, there may not be driveby's in your neighborhood, but the US is a big country.

Now they just need to open a McDonalds in Iraq to complete the picture.

And most of those people CHOOSE not to have health insurance. It's more important for them to live in a bigger house, drive a nicer car, buy the newest computer games and eat out several times a week. And they STILL aren't denied healthcare. Period.

You found one article that's over 4 years old in one city. Hardly making drive by shootings a part of American Culture.

Arguing with Alex about "America" is like trying to reason with a KKK member about a black person.
